The Department of Service Studies is now seeking a researcher for the CHAMP project, an EU-funded educational and development initiative focusing on creativity, cultural heritage, placemaking and entrepreneurship. The project aims to develop Master’s-level modules that strengthen future skills within the Cultural and Creative Sectors and Industries (CCSI).

Work duties
The CHAMP project (Creativity, Heritage and Placemaking Module) aims to strengthen the higher education landscape within CCSI by developing Master’s modules that integrate future skills and emerging technologies, societal transformation and sustainability, ethical and sustainable entrepreneurship, and creativity as an innovation capability.
The project engages with cultural heritage through placemaking and entrepreneurship, enhancing students’ entrepreneurial, cross-disciplinary and digital competencies. The work is carried out in close collaboration with colleagues and external partners and includes activities where on-site presence on campus is essential.
The work duties include:
Developing and designing a concept for a Master’s module, including the core focus, learning objectives and intended learning outcomes.
Structuring learning resources and course materials, and planning teaching and assessment methods.
Leading curriculum planning and pedagogical development, including the integration of entrepreneurship, digital tools and cultural heritage perspectives.
Preparing a communication plan, promotional materials and the final dissemination report.
Participating in teaching, workshops, project meetings and student activities.
The role involves continuous collaboration with the project team, students and external stakeholders. Regular on-site presence at the Department of Service Studies (Campus Helsingborg) is expected as an integral part of the position, although limited remote work may be possible in accordance with agreement and operational needs.
Qualification requirements
A PhD in interdisciplinary environmental social science with a focus on CCSI.
Documented teaching experience at Master’s level in Culture & Creativity Management.
Excellent command of spoken and written English.
Working knowledge of Swedish sufficient for professional communication.
Terms of employment
A fixed-term position at 35-50% of full-time between 2026-09-01 and 2027-06-15.
Employment is subject to the condition that the project funding agreement has been signed.

The Department of Service Studies is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and is located at Campus Helsingborg. The department was established in 2000 and is now a thriving interdisciplinary research and education environment. The department’s staff are drawn from a range of disciplinary backgrounds: service studies, business administration, human geography, sociology, ethnology, human ecology, history, logistics and environmental strategy.
The department offers two bachelor’s programmes in service management. There is also a master’s programme in service management with five specialisations: culture and creativity management, retailing and consumption, supply chain service management, sustainable service management and tourism. At first-cycle, the teaching language is Swedish and at second-cycle, English.
The point of departure for research at the department is current societal problems in which the service sector is in focus. Our research problematises, interrogates, contributes new perspectives to and demonstrates socially, economically and environmentally sustainable ways forward for the service society. Research is organised into four interdisciplinary themes: Sustainability, Resources & Services; Management, Organisation & Work; Tourism, Place & Mobility; and Consumption, Marketing & Retail.
