Description of the workplace
The research group’s studies aim to increase knowledge of how interactions between our genes, lifestyle factors, and body composition influence breast cancer risk, and how the interplay between these factors and tumors as well as tumor markers is associated with prognosis in different treatment groups of breast cancer patients. We apply an integrated approach, combining information from questionnaires, anthropometric measurements, tumor tissue, blood samples, genotypes, medical records, and registries for optimal follow-up. We use both public databases, our own cohorts, and mechanistic studies to investigate whether the associations identified in patient data have a causal link to the exposure. Data from both internal and public cohorts are analyzed using statistical and bioinformatics methods. We have previously reported how common lifestyle factors such as coffee consumption, smoking, and alcohol intake are linked to breast cancer prognosis in different treatment groups, but further research is needed. The group is also engaged in teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels.
Within the research group, we value a positive work environment characterized by respect and consideration in our relationships. We continuously strive to create conditions that promote job satisfaction, development, and inclusion for all employees.
