The research group Regenerative Neurobiology at the department of Experimental Medical Science, Faculty of Medicine, are focusing on cell based treatment for brain injuries and are at the international forefront within this field. The group is led by Professor Malin Parmar and contains both researchers and technical personnel, in total we are approx. 20 people. We are now looking for a motivated and knowledge driven associated researcher who will be working with advanced spatial imaging and analysis of stem cell implants for Parkinson’s disease. The project will utilize the newly installed MACSima platform for high-dimensional multiplex protein imaging of neural grafts.

The associate researcher will establish, optimize, and implement workflows for multiplex spatial imaging, including panel design, tissue analysis, image processing, and integration with existing single-cell and histological datasets.

Analysis of neural grafts using the MACSima platform

Establishment and optimization of multiplex imaging panels and workflows

Tissue processing, immunostaining, and experimental planning

Image analysis and quantification of spatial data

Integration of imaging data with histological and single-cell datasets

Compilation and presentation of scientific results

Participation in manuscript preparation and scientific presentations

A PhD in neurobiology, stem cell biology, or a related field
-
Documented experience in tissue analysis and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence

Experience in microscopy and image analysis

Ability to work independently and drive projects forward

Strong collaborative skills and experience working in an international research environment

Good written and verbal communication skills in English

Experience with multiplex imaging, spatial omics, or high-dimensional analysis platforms is considered an advantage

Experience in single-cell data analysis or bioinformatics workflows is considered an advantage

Experience working with stem cells, organoids, or transplantation models is considered an advantage
This is a fixed term position for six month at 100% of full time.
Start date October 1st, 2026, or by agreement.
