About the Role
As a Senior SiC PVT Development Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling Physical Vapor Transport (PVT) crystal growth processes for Silicon Carbide substrates. You will work closely with manufacturing, quality, equipment suppliers, research partners, and customers to improve crystal quality, increase yield, and support technology transfer into production
This role combines hands-on development work, process optimization, problem-solving, and strategic technology development.
Key Responsibilities
Crystal Growth Development
Develop and optimize SiC PVT crystal growth processes.
Improve crystal quality, yield, and process stability.
Define process windows and critical operating parameters.
Design and execute development experiments.
Industrialization & Scale-Up
Lead process scale-up from development to manufacturing.
Establish robust and repeatable production processes.
Support technology transfer to manufacturing operations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
Yield & Quality Improvement
Analyze process and characterization data to identify improvement opportunities.
Investigate crystal defects and process deviations.
Implement corrective and preventive actions.
Support quality improvement and qualification activities.
Equipment & Technology Development
Collaborate with equipment suppliers to improve reactor performance.
Support installation, qualification, and commissioning of new equipment.
Contribute to future technology roadmaps and equipment requirements.
Innovation & Collaboration
Monitor industry developments within SiC and wide-bandgap semiconductors.
Participate in collaborative R&D projects.
Support patent generation and technical publications.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
Who You Are
You are an analytical and driven engineer with a passion for advanced materials and semiconductor technology. You enjoy solving complex technical challenges and turning innovative ideas into industrial reality.
Required Qualifications
MSc or PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in semiconductor process development, crystal growth, or advanced materials manufacturing.
Strong understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and crystal growth mechanisms.
Experience working with process optimization and data analysis.
Excellent communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
Meritorious Experience
Experience with Silicon Carbide (SiC) crystal growth.
Experience with Physical Vapor Transport (PVT) processes.
Knowledge of crystal defect analysis and characterization techniques.
Experience in semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Experience with process scale-up and industrialization projects.
Knowledge of wide-bandgap semiconductor applications and markets.
