As a System Engineer you will play a central role in developing a productivity application used in Volvo wheel loaders around the world. The solution helps operators perform accurate load weighing while seamlessly integrating with cloud services, mobile applications and other machine platforms.
You will work throughout the entire development lifecycle, from defining requirements and systemizing new functionality to supporting releases, troubleshooting complex customer issues and ensuring the right balance between functionality, cybersecurity and functional safety.
Working closely with software developers, UX designers, testers and system engineers across Volvo Group, you will help transform customer needs into robust, user-friendly solutions.
This is a hands-on role where you will combine technical system thinking with close collaboration across disciplines while influencing both today's products and tomorrow's automation solutions.
You will primarily work from our office in Mölndal, where close collaboration is a natural part of everyday work. We offer the flexibility to work remotely one day per week.
- Define, structure and maintain system requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
- Work closely with test engineers to ensure complete and traceable test coverage.
- Drive the system design of new features together with cross-functional development teams.
- Document software releases and system changes.
- Collaborate with UX designers to create intuitive user interactions.
- Support troubleshooting of complex system and customer issues.
- Maintain and improve system structures and workflows in Jira.
- Participate in system-level planning and decision making together with Volvo through cross-functional engineering forums.
- Contribute to cybersecurity planning and system requirement definition.
- Support functional safety activities for future automation features.
- Collaborate with other system engineers to establish common engineering methods, structures and best practices.
We believe you have experience working with complex embedded systems and enjoy connecting technical details with the bigger system perspective.
To succeed in this role, you have:
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering or embedded product development.
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical discipline.
Experience in several of the following areas is highly valued:
- Systems engineering within embedded products, automotive or off-highway applications.
- Requirements engineering and system documentation.
- Working in cross-functional product development teams.
- Functional safety and/or cybersecurity.
- Experience with Jira or similar engineering lifecycle management tools.
- Embedded software development and system integration.
- Complex system analysis and structured problem solving.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of infotainment systems or Android development is a plus.
