At the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Division of Pathology, we are now looking for a Laboratory Coordinator who will contribute to a well-functioning, safe and efficient laboratory environment.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being a key point of coordination, has a strong sense of service and quality, and wants to work closely with researchers, teachers, students and administrative staff.
As Laboratory Coordinator, you will have a key role in the daily operations of the Division of Pathology. You will coordinate and develop shared laboratory resources, help maintain order and safety in the laboratory environment, and serve as a contact person for practical, technical and organisational matters related to laboratory activities.
Your tasks may include:

coordinating shared laboratory spaces, instruments and resources
-
maintaining order, inventory and follow-up of freezers, liquid nitrogen tanks, chemicals and consumables
-
handling orders, purchases, supplier contacts and follow-up of service agreements
-
coordinating instrument service, instrument registers and cost distribution
-
supporting risk assessments, safety inspections, incident reporting and work environment-related matters
-
introducing new employees, students and guests to laboratory routines, safety procedures and local working practices
-
collaborating with service functions, biosafety officers, work environment representatives and other units within LabMed and ANA Futura
-
administering and developing digital systems for booking, laboratory resources and internal communication, such as Teams and Calira
-
providing practical support to research groups, including basic laboratory work when needed, such as sample handling, tissue work or staining, depending on competence
-
contributing to teaching and educational activities where laboratory expertise is required
The role involves many points of contact and requires the ability to prioritise between different needs, work in a solution-oriented manner and contribute to a positive and professional working environment.
We are looking for a candidate with relevant laboratory training, for example as a biomedical analyst, biomedical scientist, laboratory engineer or equivalent qualification. You have experience working in a laboratory environment and a good understanding of laboratory operations, safety routines and practical needs in a research or educational setting.
You are structured, responsible and service-minded. You collaborate well with different professional groups and feel comfortable communicating with researchers, students, teachers, technical staff and administrative functions. You are able to work independently, take initiative and follow through on tasks until they are completed.
As Swedish is the official administrative language at KI, good ability to communicate in Swedish, both spoken and written, is required. Since many colleagues and students have an international background, good ability to communicate in English is also required.
Requirements for the position:

relevant laboratory education or equivalent competence

experience working in a laboratory environment

good knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling and work environment routines

strong administrative and organisational skills

good communication skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written

good digital skills and ability to work in administrative systems
It is meritorious if you have experience of:

work at a university, hospital laboratory or research infrastructure

coordination of joint laboratories, instruments or service functions
-
chemical inventory, risk assessments, safety rounds or biosafety work
-
purchasing, supplier contacts and financial follow-up
-
introduction and training of staff or students
-
work with booking systems, Teams, Clustermarket or similar digital tools
-
practical work with histology, tissue handling, freezers, cryopreservation or microscopy
