Sounds like you?
You own the numbers, the close, and the controls, and you do it well but you want more than a tidy ledger. You think about how capital actually gets put to work, how risk is really understood, how a portfolio could run sharper. You're probably running finance somewhere solid right now, but the investment side is someone else's job and the mission doesn't quite land. Trine will be different.
The Role
Trine has two sides: a retail crowdfunding platform that still brings in most of our revenue, and a fast-growing institutional investor base. This role owns the money side of both and, increasingly, helps shape how we invest. That someone is you.
You'll own Trine AB's finances and be our regulated-entity lead. We hold two Finansinspektionen licences a Payment Institution licence and a Crowdfunding Service Provider licence (ECSPR).
Own the close and our compliance and you've nailed the base of the role; the real upside is partnering with the investment team to build new models and sharper ways of understanding risk that lift our work on transactions and asset management, running the portfolio efficiently and exceptional risk management. If that's your strength, we're happy to outsource more of the compliance load to free you for it, something we've done before with external support.
We're a team of around ten, so this is deliberately a broad, multi-hat role - and that's the appeal. You get genuine end-to-end ownership, no layer between you and the outcome, and a direct hand in both how we run the company and how we invest. You report directly to the CEO.
What you'll own
Finance end-to-end - the monthly and annual close, budgeting and the long-term flight paths behind it, managing our auditors, most of our supplier relationships, and steering our accountants (Grant Thornton) on bookkeeping, expenses, grants, tax and payroll
First-line compliance and MLRO - anti-money-laundering, sanctions screening and transaction monitoring, and ownership of the company's policies and instructions
Regulatory reporting to Finansinspektionen - financial, fraud, operational-risk, DORA, and ECSPR crowdfunding reporting
Capital adequacy and liquidity - keeping us comfortably above our regulatory requirements
Board secretary - agendas and admin with the CEO and Chairman, the cap-table register, and shareholder relations and reporting
What makes it interesting
The role has a clear base but a wide ceiling, and you shape the how. Get the close and compliance right and the door opens to the work that makes this role rare: becoming our in-house expert on asset management and project-finance modelling, owning the KPIs and target-setting with the CEO as a genuine sparring partner, and helping us run the portfolio better than anyone our size.
You'd be working at the forefront of emerging-market investment management, democratising finance and putting capital into green projects that pay a triple bottom line: profit, people and planet. Twice a year the whole company gets together for a cabin retreat usually in Sweden or near our second office in Nairobi, with new locations on the horizon and there's the chance to travel to emerging markets to see the projects you're helping fund first-hand.
Trine is 10 people and growing, there's no layer between you and the outcome, and the feedback loop is short and real.
What we're looking for
5+ years in finance - from audit, or an in-house controller / finance-manager role
Comfortable owning a close end-to-end - and holding your own with auditors and regulators
A self-starter - you like real ownership and are energised, not unsettled, by ambiguity in a small team
A clear communicator - you can work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO, present to the board, and manage outsourced partners
Genuinely interested in investing - emerging markets and alternative assets, and keen to grow toward the investment side of the role
More experienced than this? We'd still love to hear from you, we'll size the role and the title to the person we find.
Nice to have
A background in fintech or an investment-management firm
Experience in regulated companies or compliance
Project, infrastructure or renewable-energy finance experience — the strongest fit for the investment upside

The team
You'll report to Christoffer (CEO) and sit on the leadership team, with Grant Thornton (accounting) and Advisense (risk & compliance) as your outsourced bench, and dotted lines into our investment-management and tech teams.
