The Department of Global Public Health is a multidisciplinary department with the aim to advance knowledge about challenges and opportunities for public health in a local, national, and global setting. Research at the department is focused on how different societal and individual factors affect population health, and to develop and evaluate interventions. Many researchers at the department are scientific advisors to authorities and other decision makers at regional, national, and international levels. The department has 12 research groups, about 110 PhD students and 140 employees.
We are looking for a candidate to work in the research group Community Nutrition and Physical Activity with two ongoing projects: Co-Fam (2024-2028) and Changemaker (2024-2027). In Co-Fam we co-design and evaluate an integrated family support model linking school health services and primary healthcare to promote a healthy diet and physical activity and prevent and manage overweight and obesity in children aged 6–12 years in Sweden. In the Changemaker project, ongoing in Burkina Faso, Kenya, and Tanzania we implement and evaluate a co-designed multi-component intervention for health promotion and primary prevention of adolescent obesity and other non-communicable diseases.
You will find a unique opportunity to work together with experienced researchers in intervention and implementation research in the field of nutrition, physical activity and obesity prevention to reduce social health inequalities. Several of the project's researchers are scientific advisors to national authorities and decision makers at the regional level and thus have a broad network of contacts with practitioners.
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious postdoc with a background in public health nutrition and knowledge in intervention- and implementation research to perform the following tasks in collaboration with colleagues in the research group and external partners:

Coordinating data collection and analysis together with other researchers across both projects in Sweden and abroad

Monitoring and documenting intervention implementation
-
Managing, cleaning, and analysing quantitative data including anthropometric measurements, dietary intake, and physical activity data

Contributing to data analysis and writing of papers based on quantitative and qualitative data collected within the projects
-
Conducting scoping reviews on adolescent NCD prevention Writing grant applications
-
Contributing to a dynamic research environment and dissemination activities in society
-
Contribute to teaching in the master courses at the department
-
Supporting supervision of thesis writing of master students
-
Supporting and mentoring more junior colleagues, including PhD students, in the research group
The position is full-time and limited to 2 years, with the possibility of extension.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
You must have:

A PhD in the field of public health nutrition or a related field.

Experience in intervention and implementation research.

Proficient in Swedish and English, both in speaking and writing.

Documented experience of project management, data collection, data management and quantitative statistical analysis using software such as Stata/R.

A track record of peer-reviewed publications as a first author.
It is meritorious that the applicant has experience with electronic data capture platforms such as REDCap/ODK and good IT skills. It is also meritorious that the applicant has knowledge of qualitative analysis using software such as NVivo or Atlas.ti, experience of international and interdisciplinary research, experience working in low- and middle-income country (LMIC) settings, worked in healthcare and experience of writing popular science articles aimed at healthcare professionals and the general public.
The project builds on collaboration and therefore very good collaboration and communication skills and flexibility will be required. As a person, you are structured, orderly, meticulous and ambitious.
