The School of Business, Economics and IT is currently welcoming new staff to an environment in which new programmes, courses, research initiatives, and academic contexts are being developed. The School consists of three growing research and education clusters within the social sciences Politics and Society, Economics, and Informatics and Media. These clusters are under development, and new staff will have opportunity to shape their content and make a lasting contribution to these academic environments. Organizationally, staff are placed in one of the following divisions according to their field: The Division of Business Administration and Economics, The Division of Media and Design, The Division of Informatics, and The Division of Politics, Law and Statistics. This position will be based at The Divisions of Informatics.
The Informatics and Media cluster conducts research and education on the role of digitalization in work, organizing, and society. The research is grounded in information systems and design and is characterized by a sociotechnical and work-integrated learning (WIL) perspective, where the relationship between technology, practice, and learning is central. The cluster is currently associated with seven degree programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You can read more about the programmes here: University West - Informatics and Media.
The duties primarily consist of research and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English. Applicants who do not speak Swedish at the time of appointment are expected to acquire Swedish language skills over time. You will mainly conduct research and teaching within Information Systems, specializing in AI in organizations, in close relation to the AI Management programme planned to start in spring 2027. This includes teaching and research on how artificial intelligence is developed, implemented, used, and gives rise to organizational and societal consequences in different organizational contexts. The education is based on Information Systems as a field and discipline and highlights central sociotechnical themes such as the interaction between humans and AI systems, AI‑driven organizational development, digital transformation, leadership and organizing, design and visualization, as well as ethical and sustainability-related issues connected to AI.
Teaching includes courses in information systems, AI management, human–AI interaction, organizational strategies for AI, as well as research methods and supervision of degree projects. The work also includes contributing to the work-integrated elements of the programme, such as collaboration with external actors, practice-oriented projects, and work-based elements that bridge theory and practice. Other relevant teaching and research duties may be added.
As a Senior Lecturer in Information Systems and AI in organizations, you are an active researcher and, based on your competence and qualifications, are expected to contribute to the development of the academic environment, primarily within the Informatics and Media cluster. With regard to research, this includes, for example, research applications, publications in international journals, mentoring of junior researchers, and seminar activities. With regard to education, in addition to teaching and related duties, you are also expected, based on competence and experience, to take pedagogical leadership in developing courses, programmes, and teaching teams.
There are good opportunities to engage in roles and responsibilities at the division, department, and university level, with the possibility to contribute to leadership, quality, and development work aimed at creating conditions for high-quality research-based education and education-based research. The department offers an open and collaborative environment with strong connections to industry, the public sector, and international research networks.

Demonstrated pedagogical competence (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance). Applicants who lack pedagogical qualifications from an academic environment must demonstrate equivalent competence, which may have been acquired outside academia.

Completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to at least ten weeks, or equivalent competence. If such training has not been completed, employment may still be offered provided that the appointee completes the training within the first two years of employment.

A PhD in Informatics or Information Systems, or in another closely related field deemed relevant by the employer, or equivalent scientific competence or other professional expertise of relevance to the subject area and duties of the position (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance).

Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality teaching, primarily within Information Systems or related fields.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to or build an academic environment, for example through external research funding, publications in international journals, and general research environment development. Assessment will take into account career stage and time elapsed since completion of the PhD.

Assessment criteria for appointment include teaching expertise, scholarly expertise, collaborative skills, administrative skills, leadership skills, and other relevant professional expertise.
For this position, teaching and scholarly expertise will be given equal weight and prioritized first. Collaborative and leadership skills will be given equal weight and prioritized second. Administrative skills and other professional expertise will be given equal weight and prioritized third.
When appointing a Senior Lecturer, teaching expertise shall be given the same level of consideration as other qualification criteria. Assessment will take into account the subject area, subject description, and duties of the position.
This is a permanent, full-time position. A six-month probationary period may be applied.
The selection process will, in addition to external peer review, include interviews, work samples (such as trial lectures), and reference checks.
