Maria’s Indian Restaurant in Malmö is looking for a highly skilled and passionate Indian Head Chef to lead our kitchen operations and help build one of Malmö’s most authentic Indian dining experiences.
We are seeking a strong leader with deep knowledge of Indian cuisine, kitchen management, food quality control, hygiene standards, inventory handling, and team coordination. The ideal candidate should be capable of managing busy restaurant operations while maintaining consistency, taste, and presentation.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced chef already residing in Sweden who wants long-term career growth in a professional and supportive restaurant environment.
Applicants must already live in Sweden or have valid Swedish work authorization.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complete kitchen operations daily
- Prepare authentic Indian dishes with consistent quality and presentation
- Specialize in North Indian cuisine; South Indian and Tandoor experience is highly preferred
- Create and improve menus, specials, and seasonal dishes
- Ensure all food is prepared according to hygiene and safety standards
- Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff
- Manage kitchen workflow during busy service hours
- Monitor food quality, portion control, and waste reduction
- Handle inventory management and coordinate stock ordering
- Maintain proper food storage and kitchen cleanliness
- Coordinate effectively with service staff for smooth operations
- Ensure timely preparation and delivery of orders
- Maintain discipline and professionalism inside the kitchen
- Support cost control and efficient kitchen management
- Help build a strong kitchen culture and team environment
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an Indian Chef in a professional restaurant
- Previous experience as Head Chef or Senior Chef preferred
- Strong knowledge of authentic Indian cuisine
- Tandoor and curry section experience is an advantage
- Ability to manage kitchen staff and handle pressure during peak hours
- Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety standards
- Experience in inventory management and food costing
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic to good English communication skills
- Swedish language is a plus but not mandatory
- Must already reside in Sweden or have valid work authorization in Sweden
- Passion for food, consistency, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction
