Application Engineer
Scope of role
To work within the application engineering team covering technical support in the design and integration of customer applications throughout Europe and regions outside of America.
By supporting the sales and channel organizations with technical assistance and quotations management the role makes direct impact on growth and profitability.
This role listens to and provides the Voice of the Customer (critical to driving improvements) and indirectly influences the entire workforce.
- Provides technical support to sales staff in determining possible applications of company product to meet customer requirements.
- May prepare and present demonstrations and applications of company products.
- May provide training and follow-up technical support for customers and distributors.
- Adheres to all divisional health and safety regulations.
- The impact of this role will be measured through departmental PD and KPI methods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned
- Responsible for product selection assistance, technical support, and custom or modified product requests based on customer-specified requirements.
- Customer liaison between Product design, Production and other internal departments.
- Communicate professionally via telephone, e-mail and occasionally in person.
- Interprets customer needs. Aids the customer in defining technical & commercial requirements.
- Works with Account Managers (external and internal sales) to manage assigned accounts for product direction, profitability, growth, and attaining sales objectives.
- Assists in developing standard procedures and policies to support lean methods in the office environment and performance measurement metrics.
- Assists in defining and implementing marketing plans to gain new customers and achieve sales growth objectives.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Engineering degree preferred.
- Previous technical support, application engineering or customer interfacing experience a plus.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook)
- Previous experience with a CRM system preferred (SFDC desirable).
- Previous experience with an ERP system preferred (Oracle desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Willingness to obtain functional knowledge of company products, policies and procedures.
- Fluent in English but also other languages such as German or French is an advantage
- Excellent oral & written communication skills.
- Superior telephone etiquette.
- Ability to understand and respond to customers in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
