Maria’s Indian Restaurant in Malmö is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Assistant Indian Chef / Kitchen Staff member to join our growing kitchen team.
We are searching for someone passionate about Indian cooking, food preparation, hygiene, and teamwork. The ideal candidate should be able to assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, maintain consistency during busy service hours, and support smooth kitchen workflow.
This role is ideal for candidates with previous Indian restaurant experience who are looking for long-term growth in a professional kitchen environment.
Applicants must already reside in Sweden or have valid Swedish work authorization.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations
- Prepare ingredients, sauces, gravies, and marinades
- Support cooking during lunch and dinner service
- Handle cutting, cleaning, and food preparation tasks
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas
- Ensure proper storage of food and ingredients
- Support inventory organization and stock rotation
- Help maintain consistency in food taste and presentation
- Follow kitchen safety and hygiene procedures
- Assist with naan, curry, rice, appetizer, or tandoor sections when needed
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff for smooth operations
- Handle kitchen prep efficiently during busy hours
- Wash and clean kitchen equipment when required
- Support waste reduction and proper food handling
- Be punctual, disciplined, and team-oriented
Requirements
- Previous experience in an Indian restaurant kitchen preferred
- Basic knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking methods
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Experience in food preparation and kitchen assistance
- Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
- Ability to follow instructions from the Head Chef
- Team player with positive attitude
- Hardworking and reliable personality
- Ability to handle pressure during peak restaurant hours
- Basic English communication skills
- Swedish language is a plus but not mandatory
- Must already live in Sweden or have valid work authorization
- Willingness to learn and grow within the restaurant
