The position is based at the Department of Public Health and Caring Sciences, and the successful candidate will be positioned with the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics (CRB). CRB is an interdisciplinary research centre where scholars with backgrounds in medicine, healthcare, ethics, philosophy, and law collaborate to investigate ethical, philosophical, and legal aspects of biomedical research and clinical practice. The centre provides a dynamic and intellectually stimulating research environment with strong international collaborations and opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange.
Duties
The position involves conducting research within an international collaboration, focusing on ethical, regulatory, and social issues related to AI-driven vaccine development. The work includes qualitative and quantitative research on perceptions and attitudes among professionals and the general public. The position also involves engaging key stakeholders in collaboration and dialogue, both in Sweden and internationally, as well as developing communication materials, frameworks, and policy documents.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate who hold a PhD in medicine with a specialization in medical ethics/bioethics, combined with a basic degree in social sciences, such as behavioral science, psychology, sociology, or another relevant discipline.
In addition, applicants should:

Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills in both Swedish and English.

Have experience with qualitative research methods, such as interview methodology, as well as quantitative methods, including correlation analyses.

Have experience using software for qualitative analysis, such as NVivo, and statistical software such as SPSS or Stata.

Have experience in empirical ethics research, integrating empirical investigations with ethical analysis.

Demonstrate ability to conduct independent research. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, the applicant must have obtained a doctoral degree no more than three years before the application deadline, or hold a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree. In calculating the three-year eligibility period, the application deadline is used as the reference point. Exceptions may be made in cases of special circumstances, such as sick leave, parental leave, or elected positions within trade union organisations.
Additional qualifications

Documented experience in project coordination and multi-professional collaboration within research.

Experience conducting interviews with diverse target groups, such as healthcare professionals, representatives of public authorities, patients and family members, and members of the general public.

Experience producing target group-adapted communication materials within a research context.
About the employment
The employment is a temporary position of at most three years according to the central collective agreement. Full-time position. Starting date 1st of September 2026 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
