Saab is a place where teamwork makes things fly. Literally. Join us and experience our supportive and friendly workplace.
Your role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a key role in steering the evolution of strategically important capabilities within the Airborne Early Warning (AEW) domain. You will join an experienced and diverse Project Management Office that is scaling to meet the demands of a growing, high-tech business.
Depending on your background, you will either lead R&D initiatives—navigating the journey from concept and prototyping to full-scale industrialization—or manage large-scale customer delivery projects. In a world where hardware physics meets software agility, you will be the bridge that ensures seamless integration between R&D and base configuration.
As our systems become increasingly software-defined and intelligent, you will lead projects that integrate cutting-edge software capabilities and manage the complex Transfer of Technology (ToT) processes required for our international partnerships.
You will be responsible for the full product lifecycle, moving beyond simple delivery to ensure long-term value, quality, and performance. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, product management, operations, and sales, reporting to senior management on strategic progress, dynamic risks, and key outcomes.
Most of our activities are based in Kallebäck, Gothenburg, where we design, produce, and verify our solutions. As our customers are primarily international, travel will be a part of the role.
Your profile
We are looking for a driven leader who thrives at the intersection of complex technology and strategic execution. You have a proven track record of leading high-stakes projects in technology-driven industries, preferably with experience in both product development and complex customer deliveries.
You possess a "lifecycle mindset"—you don't just deliver a project; you build a sustainable product. You are comfortable managing the pressure between different development speeds and have the discipline to keep a complex project on track through rigorous planning.
To succeed in this role, you likely have:
-
A university degree in engineering, science, or a relevant field.
-
7+ years of project management experience, leading cross-functional teams in complex environments.
-
Expertise in hybrid methodologies (combining Agile's flexibility with Traditional/Waterfall's structure).
-
Experience managing budgets, resources, and strategic external partners/suppliers.
-
Fluency in English (other languages are a plus).
-
Strong expertise in Integrated Master Planning (IMP), with a proven ability to coordinate complex dependencies across different organizational functions.
Beyond the core project management skills, we are looking for candidates who bring strength in one or more of the following areas:
-
Integrated Master Planning: synchronizing complex dependencies across multiple workstreams, ensuring that long-term strategic goals are translated into actionable tactical plans
-
Transfer of Technology (ToT): Experience in managing the transfer of technical knowledge, IP, and production capabilities to international partners.
-
AI & Intelligence: Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities in complex systems or sensor-driven environments.
-
Software-Driven Development: Experience leading the development of complex software, embedded systems, or software-defined hardware.
Certifications such as PMP, PPS, or similar are a merit. We value a collaborative mindset, a sense of accountability, and a passion for delivering cutting-edge defense capabilities.
This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
