Role Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Data Center Engineer to support operations in a high-performance computing (HPC) and GPU-based data center environment.
The role focuses on maintaining system uptime, supporting infrastructure operations, and assisting with troubleshooting across power, cooling, networking, and hardware systems in coordination with internal and external engineering teams.
This position requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a structured operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Incident Support
- Respond to operational incidents and assist with troubleshooting across data center systems
- Support resolution of issues related to power distribution, cooling systems, and server hardware
- Assist in verifying recovery of servers, networking equipment, and supporting infrastructure
- Follow established operational procedures (SOPs, MOPs, EOPs)
- Support safe isolation and restoration activities under guidance and procedures
Network & Physical Layer Support
- Assist with physical network troubleshooting (fiber, copper, DAC cabling)
- Replace or re-seat cables, optics, and transceivers as required
- Perform cable tracing and link verification
- Clean and maintain fiber connections using standard procedures
- Escalate unresolved issues to network engineering teams
Communication & Incident Coordination
- Participate in incident coordination calls with engineering and operations teams
- Provide clear, factual updates based on onsite observations
- Maintain accurate records of actions taken during incidents
- Support documentation in ticketing and tracking systems
Hardware Deployment & Maintenance
- Support installation and removal of servers and networking equipment
- Assist with rack and stack activities and structured cabling
- Ensure proper labeling and organization of infrastructure
- Verify installation quality performed by vendors or external teams
Vendor & Operational Support
- Assist vendors and third-party engineers during onsite activities
- Support maintenance and hardware replacement tasks
- Ensure adherence to operational and safety standards
Inventory & Monitoring
- Assist in tracking and updating hardware inventory records
- Support physical audits and asset verification
- Monitor infrastructure status during daily walkthroughs
- Report anomalies to senior engineers or operations leads
Required Skills & Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in data center operations, IT infrastructure, or technical support roles
- Basic understanding of:
- Power distribution systems (UPS, PDUs, breakers)
- Networking components (switches, fiber optics, DAC cables)
- Server hardware and rack systems
- Experience working in production or live environments
- Familiarity with structured operational procedures (SOPs/MOPs/EOPs)
- Strong communication skills for coordination and reporting
- Ability to work in physically active environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience in HPC or GPU-based infrastructure environments
- Exposure to large-scale or enterprise data centers
- Basic understanding of networking (Layer 2 / Layer 3 concepts)
- Familiarity with liquid cooling systems (CDU-based setups)
- Experience working in shift-based operations
