The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet consists of seven divisions and is active in many areas of Laboratory Medicine. The department conducts advanced basic, translational, clinical, and epidemiological research and is one of the largest educational departments at Karolinska Institutet. The position will be based at the Division of Pathology in the research group of Jonas Fuxe, focusing on tumor plasticity, metastasis, and tumor microenvironment interactions in cancer.
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join projects investigating how tumor cell plasticity contributes to cancer progression, metastatic dissemination, and resistance to therapy. The research combines experimental cancer biology with translational approaches and focuses on interactions between tumor cells, stromal cells, and the immune microenvironment. The work will involve a combination of molecular and cellular biology, imaging-based approaches, in vivo models, and computational analysis. The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to project development, data analysis, manuscript writing, and collaborative activities within the group and department.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
Applicants should hold, or be in the process of finalizing a PhD in cancer biology, molecular biology, cell biology, pathology, immunology, or a related field.
Experience in one or several of the following areas is considered advantageous:
-
cancer biology and metastasis research
-
cell signaling and tumor microenvironment biology
-
advanced microscopy or imaging approaches
-
flow cytometry and molecular biology techniques
-
bioinformatics or computational analysis
A medical degree or clinical background is considered meritorious.
The successful candidate should be highly motivated, able to work independently, and have good collaborative and communication skills. Excellent written and spoken English is required.
