Applied developmental neurobiology group led by Carl Sellgren is looking for a highly motivated research assistant with background in cell and molecular biology to contribute towards research on neuropsychiatric disorders. The position will be placed in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at the Karolinska Institutet, which has a collegial, international and dynamic research environment. We offer an exciting, open, and collaborative research work environment where you can make a difference.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in neurogenetics and stem cell biology.
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team working on genetic screening projects aimed at furthering our understanding of the genetic basis of neurological and psychiatric disorders. The responsibilities will include:
-
In vitro culture of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), including maintenance and differentiation into various central nervous system (CNS) cell types using both 2D and 3D differentiation protocols.
-
Characterization and analysis of hPSC-derived neuronal and non-neuronal CNS cells using techniques such as microscopy and electrophysiological assays.
-
Preparation of samples for single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq).
-
Application of standard molecular biology techniques.
-
Data analysis and documentation.
Requirements for the position
-
Applicants must hold a Master degree (or equivalent) in a field relevant for the work.
-
Applicants must have experience in eukaryotic cell culture.
-
Familiarity with standard molecular biological techniques, including molecular cloning and basic molecular analyses at the transcriptional and protein levels.
Meritous
