Our PPD® Laboratory Services team has a direct impact on improving patient health through the expertise of our scientists, to deliver world leading services. Our laboratory professionals bring their commitment to accuracy and quality to deliver groundbreaking innovations.
We continue to build and expand the capabilities and capacity of our laboratory and scientific teams at our newly established Bioanalytical & Biomarker Labs, based at GoCo Health Innovation City in Gothenburg, Sweden.
This state-of-the-art facility supports global pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers with advanced laboratory services and leading-edge instrumentation across all phases of pharmaceutical development. The laboratory provides comprehensive bioanalytical and biomarker solutions spanning both small and large molecules, oligo and antibody based therapies, cell & gene therapies, biomarkers and other novel modalities.
As part of our continued expansion, we are recruiting a number of Group Leaders, across several scientific disciplines and technologies, in the development and provision of assay services, including:

Our Group Leaders provides scientific and operational leadership for laboratory teams delivering regulated bioanalytical and biomarker services to clients. This role is responsible for oversight of staff, project execution, resource planning, technical quality, client communication and continuous improvement activities within a GLP/GCLP-regulated laboratory environment. They ensure the compliance of work performed within the laboratory as well as working to meet the financial goals of the organization.
The successful candidate will combine scientific expertise in one or more of the bioanalytical areas we deliver, have proven leadership capabilities and a passion for developing people and building collaborative, high-performing teams.
A Day in the Life

Lead, develop and manage an on-site team of scientists within the newly established Gothenburg bioanalytical & biomarker laboratory

Manage laboratory operations, resource planning and project delivery across multiple client programs
-
Provide technical leadership within one or more core technology areas including LC-MS, immunochemistry, flow cytometry, cell biology or molecular genomics

Review and approve study protocols, technical reports, validation documents, methods, SOPs and other project-related documentation

Ensure data quality, regulatory compliance and adherence to GLP/GCLP, SOPs and client requirements
-
Support troubleshooting, assay development, method validation and scientific problem-solving activities
-
Lead client interactions including technical meetings, audits and scientific discussions
-
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Project Management, Business Development and operational teams to ensure successful program delivery

Contribute to process optimization, operational excellence and implementation of new technologies and capabilities
-
Mentor, coach and develop scientific staff to support career growth and organizational success

Support inspections and audits from clients and regulatory agencies
-
Allocation, scheduling and leading laboratory resources for group's project activities and updates LIMS for project status. Reviews timesheet reports for billing accuracy.

Responds to clients questions and needs; leads client technical meetings. Provides recommendations to clients on analytical and compliance issues.

Identifies business opportunities at conferences, workshops, within the community, through client interaction, etc.

Accountable for group's knowledge and application of good practices pertaining to GLP/GCLP and / or other laboratory / client requirements.

Regularly communicates to staff quality related issues and items for staff development and implements quality improvements.
Keys to Success
Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology or a related scientific discipline
-
Significant experience within bioanalysis, biomarkers or regulated laboratory services in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology or CRO environment
-
Previous leadership or people management experience, including team supervision, mentoring or matrix leadership
-
Experience working in GLP/GCP-regulated environments
-
Strong scientific expertise in one or more of the following areas:
-
LC-MS and chromatographic sciences
-
Immunochemistry and ligand binding assays (e.g. ELISA, MSD)
-
Flow cytometry and cellular analysis
-
Cell-based assays and functional immunology
-
Molecular biology, qPCR, ddPCR or genomics technologies
-
Biomarker assay development and validation
-
Experience supporting pharmaceutical development programs across preclinical and/or clinical studies preferred
-
Experience interacting directly with clients and supporting audits or regulatory inspections preferred
