We are seeking a Research Engineer for the CARE-AI project, a collaborative initiative between KTH (EECS) and Region Stockholm (Södersjukhuset). You will build and maintain secure data pipelines (ETL) to ingest and link large-scale, pseudonymized health datasets from the TakeCare, VAL, and LISA registries. Duties include optimizing and scaling the project’s machine learning codebase, incorporating causal models and the CARE-Sim simulation engine. You will develop and integrate the software interface for a clinical decision support system and provide technical support during a 12-month clinical trial rollout in primary care. You will act as the primary technical liaison between KTH researchers and the clinical team at Södersjukhuset.
Requirements

A master's degree (advanced level) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent competence.
- Strong proficiency in Python and practical experience with Git, CI/CD, and Docker.

Experience building and maintaining data pipelines (ETL) for complex datasets.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken, as it is required in the daily research environment.
- As a person, you have strong collaborative abilities, are independent, structured, communicative, and possess analytical problem-solving skills.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with software integration in clinical environments or collaboration between academia and healthcare.
