We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented research assistant to join a new research group at Karolinska Institutet focused on thymus biology, immune reconstitution and anti-cancer immunity. The group uses advanced experimental and molecular approaches to understand how T-cell production can be restored after cytoreductive therapy and how newly generated T cells contribute to immunotherapy and tumor control. The position offers the opportunity to work in an international and translational research environment that connects basic immunology, preclinical models and clinically relevant questions.
As a research assistant you will contribute to experimental projects focused on thymic regeneration, T-cell development and cancer immunology.
Your responsibilities may include:
-
Planning and performing immunological experiments using murine and human model systems
-
Flow cytometry, cell isolation, tissue processing and functional immune assays
-
Molecular assays such as qPCR/ddPCR, library preparation or single-cell/spatial methods depending on experience
-
Data handling, documentation and analysis
-
Establishment of protocols, biobanking workflows and laboratory routines
-
Collaboration with researchers, PhD students, clinical collaborators and core facilities
-
Contributing to manuscripts, grant applications and presentations when relevant
We are looking for a candidate with relevant training in biomedicine, immunology, molecular biology, medicine, biotechnology or a related field.
Requirements:
-
Relevant academic degree, for example BSc, MSc or PhD depending on the level of the position
-
Experience in experimental laboratory work
-
Strong organizational skills and careful documentation
-
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
-
Good communication skills in spoken and written English
Meritorious qualifications:
-
Experience with flow cytometry and immune phenotyping
-
Experience working with T cells, thymus biology, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, cancer immunology or regenerative immunology
-
Experience with murine models
-
Experience with single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, ddPCR or bioinformatic analysis in R/Python
-
Experience working with human samples, biobanks or translational research projects
Personal suitability will be highly valued. We place particular emphasis on accuracy, initiative, collaborative ability and a strong interest in experimental and translational immunology.
