Nordics Payroll Specialist
Location - Denmark or Sweden (Hybrid)
Are you motivated by payroll accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence? Are you energised by working across Denmark and Sweden in a global payroll model? Are you a collaborative, pragmatic specialist who enjoys building trust with colleagues, providers, and local stakeholders?
If this sounds like you, or you are curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join Ramboll as our new Nordics Payroll Specialist and work with us to support reliable, compliant payroll delivery across Denmark and Sweden while contributing to our global payroll transformation journey.
Your new role
As our new Nordics Payroll Specialist, you will ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll delivery across the Nordic region, with primary focus on Denmark and Sweden. You will act as a country payroll subject matter expert and escalation point for complex payroll matters requiring local knowledge of tax, social security, pensions, statutory reporting, collective agreements, and employment-related payments.
You will be part of a global Payroll & Benefits organisation, working closely with Global Payroll Operations, HR, Finance, local leadership, external payroll providers, and in-country partners. This is a role for someone who enjoys combining detailed payroll expertise with a calm, service-minded approach. In a Danish and Swedish working context, we value transparency, trust, inclusion, work-life balance, and practical collaboration. You will help strengthen standard ways of working while respecting local requirements and cultural expectations in both countries.
Your key responsibilities will be:
-
Provide Tier 2 guidance and country-specific payroll support for Denmark and Sweden across the end-to-end payroll cycle, including new hires, employee changes, terminations, leave, variable pay, benefits, deductions, and payroll outputs.
-
Act as the payroll expert for Danish and Swedish legislation, monitoring changes affecting payroll, taxation, social security, pensions, statutory reporting, and employment-related payments.
-
Partner with HR, Finance, local leadership, Global Payroll Operations, and external providers to resolve complex payroll issues, support audits, manage controls evidence, and improve service delivery.
-
Support vendor performance follow-up, payroll system enhancements, interface investigations, reporting, reconciliations, automation, and process optimisation initiatives.
-
Develop and maintain local payroll documentation, knowledge articles, employee guidance, and knowledge transfer materials to promote standardisation and operational excellence.
About you
You bring strong payroll expertise, a service-oriented mindset, and the confidence to advise stakeholders in a clear and practical way. You are comfortable working independently, but you also enjoy building alignment across teams, countries, and providers.
-
Strong payroll experience with practical expertise in Denmark and Sweden.
-
Good understanding of income tax, social security, pension administration, statutory reporting, and how collective agreements can affect payroll in Denmark and Sweden.
-
Experience working with outsourced payroll providers and supporting payroll audits, controls, and compliance activities.
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to investigate root causes of complex payroll issues.
-
Fluency in English and strong communication skills; Danish and/or Swedish language capability would be an advantage for local stakeholder and employee matters.
What we can offer you
-
Flexible work environment with the possibility of working from home a few days a week, aligned with local practices and business needs.
-
A collaborative, low-hierarchy working culture where openness, trust, and shared responsibility are valued.
-
Opportunity to shape payroll excellence across Denmark and Sweden while contributing to a global payroll operating model.
-
Exposure to payroll transformation, automation, knowledge management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
-
Supportive leaders guided by Ramboll’s Leadership Principles and a commitment to your development.
-
Inspiration from colleagues across countries, functions, and projects in a foundation-owned company with long-term thinking.
-
A culture that welcomes you as the unique person you are and supports balance in where, when, and how you work.
