You own reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) engineering for Blykalla’s SEALER-55 lead-cooled fast reactor (LFR), a 55MW small modular reactor, working within Plant Engineering across assigned plant areas, systems, and work packages. Your focus is quantitative reliability analysis - RAM and availability modeling, reliability block diagrams, fault trees, reliability data analysis, and FMEA / FMECA - for a nuclear plant, in close support of the probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) that underpins the safety case. You set up the reliability framework - the RAM, FMEA, and FMECA methods, templates, criticality criteria, and data basis - and then execute against it, making sure availability and reliability targets are defined, modeled, and flowed down into design, redundancy and sparing, testing, and maintenance requirements. You quantify how design and maintenance choices affect availability and lifecycle performance, coordinate interfaces with other disciplines and suppliers, and support the project from design through procurement, construction, and handover to commissioning and operations. You also help shape a plant-as-a-product mindset through standardization, modular design, and DfMA.
You are responsible for contributing to Blykalla’s plant engineering capability by incorporating the areas below into your daily work:
Ownership and modeling approach
Set up the RAM, FMEA, and FMECA framework - methods, templates, criticality criteria, and data basis - then own and execute the RAM scope for your areas (availability and reliability targets, redundancy and sparing philosophy, analysis basis), planning deliverables, priorities, and resource needs.
Define and maintain the reliability design basis, RAM targets, modeling methodology, data sources, and assumptions, working directly in RiskSpectrum (required) for fault tree and PSA-aligned modeling, together with RAM tools such as ReliaSoft, Isograph, GRIF, or Maros / Taro.
Build and maintain reliability block diagrams, fault trees, and Markov / Monte-Carlo availability models, and flow reliability, availability, and maintainability requirements down to specifications and data sheets.
Reliability, availability, and maintainability analysis
Perform and review RAM and availability studies, including RBD and fault tree analysis, Monte-Carlo simulation, spares and logistics modeling, and lost-production analysis.
Perform FMEA / FMECA, reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and criticality ranking to drive design, redundancy, monitoring, and maintenance decisions.
Quantify the availability and lifecycle impact of design, redundancy, maintenance and test intervals, and sparing, and track margin against targets.
Establish reliability data and failure-rate estimates from sources such as ISO 14224 / OREDA, including Weibull / life-data analysis and common-cause parameters.
Provide reliability inputs - component failure data, common-cause factors, and test and maintenance assumptions - to the nuclear PSA and safety case, coordinating closely with the function that owns nuclear safety.
Interfaces and integration
Coordinate interfaces across disciplines - process, mechanical, rotating equipment, electrical, I&C, civil and structural, layout, safety and licensing, and operations and maintenance.
Resolve issues around redundancy, single points of failure, common-cause vulnerabilities, testability, maintainability, and access for maintenance, and support 3D model and design reviews.
Suppliers, delivery, and change control
Set reliability and maintainability requirements for RFQs and supplier packages (targets, RAM data, FMECA, reliability demonstration) and review supplier reliability data and reports.
Give reliable input to estimates, schedules, risk reviews, and change requests - including the availability impact of changes - and escalate technical risks early with practical mitigations.
Support design, safety, and constructability reviews, RFI responses, site queries, and field changes.
Team development and ways of working
Mentor engineers, share lessons learned, and improve methods, templates, checklists, and data libraries.
Help build a reliability engineering capability that scales with Blykalla’s project needs and supports a plant-as-a-product mindset.
Typical deliverables
Reliability design basis and RAM targets; reliability block diagrams, fault trees, and availability models; RAM and production-availability study reports; FMEA / FMECA and criticality registers; RCM analyses; reliability data and failure-rate libraries; Weibull / life-data analysis; common-cause and spares / logistics inputs; condition-monitoring and testing requirements; reliability inputs to the safety analysis / PSA interface; supplier reliability review comments; interface registers; change requests; and handover closeout inputs.
You are expected to keep yourself up to date with the latest advancements and continuously improve the skills of your trade, while having in mind the expectations below.
Domain knowledge
Bring 6+ years of experience in reliability / RAM engineering, including hands-on nuclear experience (RAM and PSA-support analysis for nuclear plants or systems).
Lead reliability engineering across a major plant area, a full project, or multiple complex work packages, with emphasis on quantitative RAM modeling and analysis.
Solve ambiguous problems by taking a broad view of technical, delivery, data, and interface constraints, and set analysis, data, and modeling standards for the discipline.
Technical understanding and practical application of reliability and dependability standards (IEC 60300 series, IEC 61078, 61025, 61165, 61649, 60812) and nuclear PSA practice using RiskSpectrum, with ISO 14224 / OREDA and nuclear reliability data and applicable IAEA and regulatory guidance (for example US NRC / NUREG and Swedish SSM).
Coach engineers across teams and raise the overall capability of the discipline.
Business understanding
Anticipate issues with broad impact on availability, schedule, supplier performance, commissioning readiness, or lifecycle cost and act before they become critical.
Give significant input to function strategy, resource planning, and ways of working across Plant Engineering, balancing technical rigor with practical delivery.

Reliability deliverables and analyses issued to the agreed plan.

Security obligations

Salary Range: SEK 60 000 – 76 000/ month, depending on experience and qualifications.
