The Department of Chemistry - Ångström conducts research and education in the chemistry field. The department has more than 270 employees and has a turnover just over 300 million SEK. At the department's six programs, we conduct very successful research of a high international standard. We have a large number of externally funded research projects, often with international cooperation and we see continued good growth in our subject area. Subject description
The project includes the implementation of an agentic workflow for the generative solvent design system (GSDS) following our recent publication (https://doi.org/10.1021/acsnano.6c06255) and utilizing large language models (LLM) in the context of electrolyte design for rechargable batteries.
Work duties
The position includes assisting with the research in the above-mentioned project. The tasks include literature study, scientific programming, simulations, and analysis of results. It also includes communication of scientific results through reports and presentations. The results are expected to be summarized in scientific publications.
Requirements
Applicants must have:

A master's degree in data science or computational science.

The applicant must have very good knowledge of scientific programming (Python or C++).

The applicant must have good knowledge of large language models (LLM).

Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
The employment is a temporary position, 12 months. Scope of employment 100 %. Starting date 2026-09-01 or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala
