What You’ll Do At Elekta
As a Lead Software Engineer in our Neuro Engineering team, you will develop advanced software that supports clinical workflows in radiation therapy. You will be part of the Treatment Planning System Engineering organization, collaborating with software engineers, product owners, architects, system engineers, and verification specialists to deliver high-quality solutions in a regulated environment, including Leksell GammaPlan®.
You will contribute across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation, testing, and improvement. Working mainly with C++, you may focus on system functionality, user interfaces, operating system interactions, and advanced algorithms while helping guide technical decisions and support engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the full software development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and documentation
- Design and develop robust, maintainable software within a complex and high-quality engineering environment
- Drive technical decisions related to system design, architecture, and implementation
- Review code and software documentation to ensure high standards of quality
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in an agile setup (SAFe/Scrum)
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, and methodologies
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and regulatory requirements relevant to software development
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and team practices
- Coach and mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting team growth
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience in software engineering, typically 7+ years
- Strong proficiency in C++
- Experience working with complex systems across multiple layers
- Solid understanding of software architecture and design principles
- Experience working in agile environments such as Scrum or SAFe
- Ability to take ownership, drive technical initiatives, and work independently
- Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Additional experience that is considered a plus:
- Experience with algorithms and data structures
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or MATLAB
- Familiarity with modern development tools
- Experience working in a regulated environment
