We currently have the vacancy of a Senior Manager Port Network Management at our office in Stockholm Sweden or alternatively in our Lysaker office in Norway.
Reporting to the VP Tonnage & Port Network Management, the role is responsible for managing the global port and terminal network to achieve the fastest and most cost-efficient vessel turnaround.
Job Description:
Accountabilities
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of WW’s end-to-end shipping network.
- Identify and define capacity gaps between shipping operations and port infrastructure.
- Monitor global port and terminal capacity and develop early warning indicators.
- Initiate, develop, and implement contingency plans to minimize port disruptions.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve vessel-, port-, and terminal-related issues.
- Engage with CG and PTSO teams to identify alternative or mitigating solutions and execute them in a timely manner.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving before port disruptions escalate.
- Serve as a key stakeholder in projects related to future operations, including the assessment of hub-and-spoke networks to enhance shipping products and support decarbonization as part of the Group strategy.
- Lead joint assessments with Marine Operations regarding Shaper and Shaper+ navigational requirements, and identify physical constraints across the global network.
- Work with OPEX teams to establish and manage a global dashboard for tracking vessel waiting time and delays.
- During operational disruptions such as strikes, port closures, accidents, or war, take a leading role within the Business Continuity Team and/or Emergency Response Team (on behalf of Shipping) to identify actions and countermeasures to minimize operational and financial impact.
- Lead two Port Network Management Specialists in EMEA and the Americas in managing region-specific issues.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge and skills
- Holistic leadership with the ability to work effectively across business units and regions.
- Deep understanding of the shipping industry.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WW’s shipping network, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to engage key stakeholders and foster effective collaboration.
- Proactive and result-oriented mindset, with a continuous focus on optimizing operations and minimizing delays.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across business units.
- Ability to build, develop, and lead teams, combined with the capacity to influence and drive decision-making across multiple functions.
- Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment while communicating with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
