Are you looking for the next step in your engineering career? Join a team of dedicated colleagues in a global company with market-leading products.
As a Design Engineer, you will work closely with customers and colleagues across the entire delivery chain, helping create tissue machines that meet real industry needs. You will be part of an engineering organization of around 60 engineers, where you can develop your expertise, contribute to innovative machine solutions, and gradually take ownership of specific machine sections or components.
This is a role where you will see the direct impact of your work, collaborate with production and pre-assembly teams, and gain a unique understanding of the final product throughout its lifecycle.
You will create drawings and technical documentation for the purchasing, manufacturing, and assembly of tissue machines.
You will collaborate with engineering, production, and pre-assembly teams to deliver high-quality machine solutions.
- You will contribute to the continuous development and maintenance of products and components.
- You will support customer projects by providing mechanical design expertise and technical solutions.
- You will have opportunities to specialize and take responsibility for specific machine sections or components over time.
You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, or have equivalent professional experience, preferably within mechanical engineering design.
You have strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Swedish is also important for this role.
- Experience from the paper and process industries is considered an advantage.
- Experience working with product functionality, manufacturing processes, or pressure vessels is beneficial.
- Travel may be included as part of the position.
You enjoy working collaboratively while also taking ownership of your own responsibilities. You communicate clearly, build strong working relationships, and approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset. Your mechanical design expertise, combined with an interest in product development and continuous improvement, will help you thrive in this environment.
We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles - practical behaviors that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:
- Take accountability – Act with ownership, set clear expectations, and follow through

You will join one of four engineering groups within an organization of approximately 60 engineers, working alongside colleagues in mechanical design and technical project management. The team works closely with customers throughout the delivery chain, ensuring that machine solutions meet customer needs and performance expectations. You will have opportunities to grow within mechanical design, customer project roles, and specialized technical areas. The close connection to production and pre-assembly gives you valuable insight into how your designs become finished products. It is a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing, professional growth, and innovation are encouraged.
Valmet offers an inspiring and challenging work environment where you can contribute to industry-leading solutions. You will work in a global organization that values collaboration, continuous learning, and professional development.
