Duties
This postdoctoral position is based in the Global Health Pharmacometrics research group. The planned projects focus on pediatric treatment of tuberculosis using recently approved drugs and drug candidates in later stages of clinical development. The projects are conducted within international collaborations involving industry partners. The responsibilities will include model-based pharmacokinetic analysis of clinical data from pediatric studies, with the aim of generating dosing recommendations, participation in the development of study protocols including planning of dosing and sampling times, and providing pharmacometric support to study teams during the implementation phase. Results will be reported continuously in presentations for collaborators and communicated through conference presentations and scientific publications. In this role, you will also be expected to assist in the supervision of master’s students’ project work. There are opportunities to participate in other teaching activities within the department, although this is not a requirement.
Requirements
We place great emphasis on personal suitability and interest in the areas of pharmacometrics and applications within global health. The applicant should have good collaboration and communication skills, with ability to express him/herself well, in both oral and written English. A demonstrated capability to conduct and complete a scientific project in a structured and methodological manner is required. Experience of programming in R and pharmacometrics software such as NONMEM or Monolix.
PhD degree in pharmacometrics or a related field or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD degree in the specified field. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc.
Additional qualifications
Prior experience of research in poverty-related infectious disease and/or pediatric pharmacology is advantageous. Experience of working in an international environment is highly desirable.
