Some data problems are neat and tidy. Ours usually aren’t. They are messy, evolving, and tied to real decisions. We work closely with our clients to understand what actually needs to be solved and build from there.
At Playground Data, we build modern data platforms for analytics, AI and machine learning. We are a collaborative team that values solid engineering and shared growth. Our engineers take ownership and work closely with clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
You'll join our client engagements as part of a team, working on data platforms that matter to the business. Many of our projects are greenfield builds or major platform transformations, so there's plenty to learn from people who've done it before. This role suits someone early in their data engineering career who wants to build real things and grow fast.
In practice, you'll:
Build and maintain data pipelines that ingest, model, and structure data for analytics, AI and ML workloads.
Work alongside senior engineers and pick up how modern data platforms are designed and operated.
Take growing ownership of your own tasks as you find your feet, with support whenever you need it.
Contribute to how we work internally, share ideas, and help improve our data engineering frameworks and ways of working.
You'll never sit idle, there's always something meaningful to build, learn, or untangle.
You're early in your data engineering journey, maybe fresh out of school or with a first project or two behind you, and you already know that data doesn't magically organize itself. Python and SQL are tools you're comfortable with and keen to get sharper at, and you've had your first taste of a modern data stack (AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake etc.).
You would probably describe yourself as someone who:
Wants to understand data engineering in practice: You're eager to learn how data flows, scales, and holds up in production for analytics and AI and ML workloads.
Enjoys building from scratch: Greenfield work doesn't scare you, it motivates you.
Stays curious when things are unclear: You don't panic when requirements are fuzzy and the system diagram needs three whiteboards, you ask questions and dig in.
Wants to grow into a consultant role: You're up for customer dialogue and learning how to guide clients, with senior colleagues alongside you.
As a person, you're humble, genuinely curious about technology, and motivated, while knowing that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. Friendly, curious, and playful.
You've graduated from KTH, Stockholms Tekniska Institut, Nackademin or a similar program in a relevant field.
You need to be fluent in Swedish and able to use it confidently in a professional environment. Why? Most of our collaborations and client projects are conducted in Swedish, and several of our clients have formal requirements.

At Playground, you work on real, complex assignments for well-established and ambitious clients, not bench projects or short-lived experiments. Our teams are trusted with production systems, platforms, and data that actually matter. Here growth comes from ownership, curiosity, and doing the work properly. You’re trusted to think, contribute, and keep getting better, one meaningful step at a time. Playground brings together specialized domains under one umbrella, with a shared culture and way of working, and easy access to broad technical expertise when it helps move the work forward.
