Solinide Photonics develops next-generation optical components and modules for high-speed data communication and co-packaged optical (CPO) systems. Our roadmap centres on external laser sources packaged in the OIF ELSFP form factor - the building blocks that supply optical power to the AI and cloud infrastructure of the next decade. We are a small, hands-on engineering team based in Gothenburg/Partille, and we are scaling the lab as we move from prototype to qualification.
As a Test Technician you set up fixtures, align fibre, run characterisation and reliability tests on photonic components and ELSFP modules, and keep our measurement equipment in top condition. You will work side-by-side with design engineers, capture data that directly feeds product decisions, and over time take more ownership of test stations and procedures.
This is an excellent entry point into the photonics industry for someone who is meticulous, curious, and enjoys working with their hands on advanced equipment.
Optical bench setup and alignment: build and align free-space and fibre-coupled test setups using lasers, fibre, lenses, isolators, optical power meters, OSAs, and spectrum analysers.
Component and module testing: perform characterisation, qualification, and production-style tests on lasers, photodiodes, sub-assemblies, and ELSFP modules following written procedures.
Equipment maintenance and calibration: carry out routine calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of optical and electrical test equipment; manage spares and consumables.
Prototype assembly: assemble box-based prototypes, including fibre cleaning and connection, soldering, and making cable assemblies.
Data capture and reporting: collect, organise, and graph measurement data; write clear test reports; flag anomalies to design engineers.
Test station bring-up: help engineers prototype and validate new test fixtures, document procedures, and transfer them to routine use.
Lab housekeeping and safety: keep the laser lab clean, ESD-controlled, and compliant with laser safety requirements (Class 3B/4).
(Optional) Test automation: modify or extend Python or LabVIEW scripts that drive instruments and log data — training will be provided if this is new to you.
Required
Upper-secondary technical education (gymnasium teknik/el) or YH/KY degree in photonics, electronics, mechatronics, physics, or a related field.
Hands-on lab experience (internships, thesis work, and hobby projects all count).
Comfort working with fibre-optic components and basic optical instruments.
Meticulous, methodical, and patient — you enjoy getting things right and writing down what you did.
Good written and spoken English.
Eligible to work in Sweden.
Nice to Have
Familiarity with laser safety (Class 3B/4) and ESD-controlled environments.
Basic Python or LabVIEW scripting for instrument control and data logging.
Experience with fibre handling, cleaving, splicing, or connectorisation.
Experience with electrical assembly (soldering, connectors, etc.).
Exposure to telecom or datacom optical components (transceivers, ROSAs/TOSAs, lasers).
Working knowledge of Swedish.
Applications are reviewed continuously, so apply early. Tell us about the most interesting lab/experimental setup you have built — at school, on an internship, or as a hobby.
