The Solidity and Component NVH team is responsible for the key driving experience attributes of squeak and rattle, solid feel, and operational sound quality. We partner closely with design teams across the organisation, providing the expertise and guidance needed to develop vehicles with strong attribute performance from concept phase through to mass production. In the early stages, we use CAE tools and engineering judgement to assess virtual designs in iterative development loops. In later phases, we validate performance in prototype vehicles and in production. The close collaboration between CAE engineers and test engineers is central to delivering clear feedback, robust analysis, and well-founded recommendations for improvement.
As a Senior Test Engineer within Solidity and Component NVH, you will evaluate vehicles and components with a focus on squeak and rattle, solid feel, door closing sound, and noises from components such as window regulators and seat adjustment systems. Testing is carried out both on complete vehicles at test tracks and on component rigs. The role also includes travel to Volvo Cars production sites around the world when evaluations are needed in factory environments, during development, industrialisation, or launch support.
Your work will include root cause analysis and close collaboration with responsible designers, CAE engineers, release teams, and suppliers to identify improvements and drive robust solutions. You will also contribute to capturing learnings in design guidelines, requirements, and test methods together with the CAE team and the design and release organisations. Acoustic measurement equipment and commercial NVH software are an integrated part of our daily work, used continuously for analysis, troubleshooting, evaluation, and validation throughout the development process. These tools help us understand issues, confirm performance, and provide clear feedback and recommendations to design teams.
