Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and service-minded Accountant to join our Shared Service Centre in Sweden (Bromölla or Malmö). The role is responsible for delivering high-quality accounting services for entities in Sweden and the Baltic region (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements, group accounting policies, and internal controls.

The accountant will work closely with local finance teams, business stakeholders, auditors, tax advisors, and SSC colleagues to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Financial Accounting

Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities for Swedish & Baltic legal entities.

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.

Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with local GAAP and Group accounting policies.

Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.

Support intercompany accounting and reconciliations.

Accounts Payable

Review and reconcile vendor accounts.

Monitor open items and resolve invoice-related issues.

Support payment proposal reviews and execution.

Ensure compliance with approval workflows and internal controls.

Accounts Receivable

Monitor customer balances and investigate outstanding items.

Reconcile customer accounts and support collections activities where required.

Assist with bad debt provisions and customer account maintenance.

Reporting & Compliance

Prepare statutory and group reporting packages.

Support VAT, Intrastat, and other local tax reporting requirements.

Ensure compliance with local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Support external and internal audit processes.

Assist with annual report preparation and statutory filings.

Process Improvement

Identify opportunities for process standardization and automation.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the SSC.

Support implementation of new systems, tools, and procedures.

Document and maintain accounting procedures and work instructions.

Stakeholder Management

Act as a trusted finance partner to Swedish & Baltic business units.

Collaborate with local management, HR, tax advisors, and external auditors.

Provide excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.

Participate in regional finance projects and SSC initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

Professional accounting qualifications are an advantage.

Experience

3–5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in an international environment.

Experience working in a Shared Service Centre is preferred.

Knowledge of Baltic accounting and tax environments is highly advantageous.

Experience with month-end close and financial reporting processes.

Familiarity with SAP (S/4HANA or ECC) or similar ERP systems.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.

Advanced Excel skills.

Experience with SAP considered an advantage.

Ability to analyse financial data and identify issues proactively.

Language Skills

Fluent English is required.

Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.

Knowledge of Estonian, Latvian, or Lithuanian is beneficial but not required.
