CGI is looking for several experienced Mainframe Operations Specialists to join a client assignment within the Financial Services sector in Stockholm.
As a specialist within one or more of the following areas: MQ, IMS, DB2, z/OS, or RACF, you will become part of a highly experienced team of consultants operating a secure, business-critical mainframe environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a complex and mission-critical infrastructure where stability, availability, security, and continuous improvement are key priorities. You will collaborate closely with both technical experts and business stakeholders while contributing to the evolution of a modern mainframe platform.
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Senior Mainframe Specialist, you will play a key role in:
- System programming and maintenance of z/OS and related subsystems
- Working closely with domain owners for MQ on z/OS, IMS, and/or DB2, depending on your area of expertise
- Software installation, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities
- Incident investigation, problem management, and operational support
- Managing certificates, encryption technologies, and security-related configurations
- Participating in on-call duty and planned infrastructure activities
- Driving modernization initiatives, automation, and continuous improvements
- Ensuring that the mainframe operating system and its core subsystems provide a secure, resilient, and cost-efficient foundation for mission-critical applications
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
To succeed in this role, you bring:
- At least 10 years of hands-on experience working within mainframe environments
- Deep expertise in one or more of the following areas:
z/OS
MQ
IMS
DB2
RACF
- Strong experience in system programming, operations, and infrastructure management
- A structured, proactive, and quality-focused approach to your work
- A genuine interest in automation, performance optimization, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
- A collaborative mindset where knowledge sharing and teamwork are highly valued
- The ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
