Position: Mechanical Design Engineer
Department: Mechanical Design
Reports to: Head of Mechanical Design
About the Role
Envirotainer was founded in 1985 and today operates more than 10,000 active temperature-controlled containers worldwide. Every day, our products are used to transport millions of doses of life-saving pharmaceuticals. With more than 40 years of experience and operations in over 100 countries, we are an important part of the global pharmaceutical supply chain.
Envirotainer has approximately 450 employees globally, of whom around 150 work at our office and production facility in Rosersberg, Sweden.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our Mechanical Design team of eight engineers based in Sweden and Germany. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues across R&D, as well as with Production, Maintenance, Sourcing, and other functions. You will report to the Head of Mechanical Design.
A Few Words from Your Future Manager
"Hi! My name is Karl, and I lead our Mechanical Design team, the group responsible for mechanical design and mechanical engineering topics related to our products. I have been with Envirotainer since 2011 in various R&D roles.
People sometimes ask me what has kept me at Envirotainer for so many years, and my answer is simple: it never gets boring. We are on a continuous journey of development, and there is always something new to tackle.
We have an exciting mix of innovation, new product development, and improvement of products already operating around the world. This means we constantly face new technical challenges and have opportunities to grow, both as individuals and as a team."
What We Offer
- A Job That Makes a Difference
Our temperature-controlled containers transport life-saving pharmaceuticals around the world. The work you do helps ensure that medicines reach patients in the right condition, wherever they are needed.
- An Exciting Environment for Engineers
Within R&D, we work on everything from solving technical issues and improving existing products to driving innovation and developing entirely new solutions. This creates a dynamic environment with plenty of technical challenges and opportunities to make an impact.
- Collaboration Across Disciplines
Our products bring together mechanical, electronics, and software engineers, technical writers, project managers, and other specialists around shared challenges. Together, we take solutions all the way from concept to products in operation.
- Opportunities to Contribute and Grow
You will have ownership of your work and the opportunity to contribute with your experience while becoming part of a team with broad technical expertise. We share knowledge, challenge each other's ideas, and grow together as our company and products evolve.
Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work with mechanical engineering topics throughout much of the product lifecycle. One day you may be investigating a technical issue in a product operating somewhere in our global fleet; the next day you could be contributing to a new design solution or development project.
The most important design characteristics vary depending on the challenge. Sometimes the focus is on creating a robust and cost-effective solution that is easy to manufacture. In other cases, priorities may include functionality, weight, repairability, or flexibility. Since our products are transported by air, finding the right balance between low weight and required performance is an important part of the design process.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and improve mechanical solutions for existing and future products.
- Create concepts, CAD models, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Investigate technical issues, perform analyses, and identify root causes.
- Plan and execute tests to demonstrate compliance with requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to the development of our engineering processes and ways of working.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and business functions to ensure solutions work effectively in real-world applications.
This role is well suited to someone who enjoys variety and wants to combine design engineering with analysis, testing, and technical problem-solving.
Who We Are Looking For
We believe you are a curious and motivated engineer who enjoys understanding how things work and how they can be improved. You take a structured approach to your work, enjoy taking ownership, and thrive when solving technical challenges together with others.
You do not need to know everything from day one, but you have established a solid technical foundation and are eager to continue developing your skills while contributing your own experience and ideas.
You have:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Several years of experience in mechanical design engineering or similar product development work.
- Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English, as both languages are used in the role.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities, technical curiosity, and motivation to join Envirotainer and contribute to our continued success.
Location
This role is located in our R&D facility in Rosersberg, north of Stockholm. Limited travels can be expected.
