We are seeking a hands-on Product Development Engineer to take a leading role in productizing and commercializing Percy Roc's first product. The central objective is to turn an advanced prototype into a robust system that customers can order, install, operate safely, maintain, and support.
You will drive the engineering path from product requirements and architecture to design freeze, verification, compliance, supplier handover, and first customer deployments. This is not a pure research position: success means releasing the first product and establishing a repeatable product and manufacturing foundation for a scalable product family.
What Success Looks Like
-
An approved product baseline covering requirements, architecture, interfaces, configurations, and the release plan.
- A frozen, documented, and costed design suitable for repeatable assembly, test, installation, and service.
- Verification, safety, CE, EMC, and customer-acceptance evidence supported by a controlled technical file.
- Pilot and commercial units delivered, with customer feedback closed into a disciplined product roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
-
Own product definition. Translate target-customer needs into prioritized requirements, specifications, acceptance criteria, and a practical release roadmap.
- Shape the platform architecture. Define the reusable core, software workflows, application modules, interfaces, and configuration rules.
- Lead system integration. Integrate power supplies, RF amplifiers, applicators, cooling, sensors, interlocks, embedded controls, HMI, and data functions.
- Drive product maturity. Execute engineering and pilot builds, design reviews, testing, debugging, reliability improvements, design freeze, and release decisions.
- Industrialize the design. Apply design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly; manage the BOM, product cost, lead times, component availability, obsolescence, and suppliers.
- Own verification and compliance readiness. Establish verification, traceability, risk, safety, EMC, product-acceptance, and market-release documentation.
- Create the product release package. Control drawings, schematics, interfaces, software versions, assembly and test instructions, manuals, and engineering changes.
- Support customers and commercialization. Contribute to scoping, configuration, delivery planning, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, training, and structured feedback.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mechatronics, Product Development, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in product development, system engineering, industrial equipment, or multidisciplinary hardware development.
- Demonstrated experience taking a complex prototype or subsystem through integration, verification, pilot deployment, or product release.
- Strong hands-on capability in electrical systems, embedded control, instrumentation, test, fault finding, and system bring-up.
- Experience working with requirements, design reviews, verification plans, technical documentation, configuration control, and engineering changes.
- Clear ownership mindset, the ability to balance performance, safety, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and customer value, and effective written and spoken English. Swedish is an advantage.
Preferred Skills and Experience
-
RF and microwave engineering, power amplifiers, impedance matching, applicators, or microwave test methods.
- Power electronics, high-voltage or high-current systems, isolation, interlocks, grounding, and industrial safety.
- CE marking, EMC testing, technical files, product risk assessment, and industrial-equipment compliance.
- PCB design; embedded C or C++; Python test automation; PLC or industrial-control experience.
- Thermal management, air and water cooling, sensors, enclosures, and electrical-mechanical integration.
- Supplier development, sourcing, BOM management, value engineering, field commissioning, or first-product commercialization.
- Ideally starting on the 1st of September.
Why Join Us?
This is a pivotal role in Percy Roc's transition from validated technology to a commercial product company. You will:
-
Own meaningful parts of the company's first commercial product and see it deployed with industrial customers.
- Work across microwave engineering, product development, industrial electrification, and material processing.
- Influence architecture, design standards, suppliers, development methods, and the future platform roadmap.
- Combine hands-on engineering with customer interaction and commercialization decisions in an entrepreneurial team.
