Description
Welcome to SSC Space (formerly Swedish Space Corporation), the perfect workplace for those passionate about technology in general and space in particular.
With space organizations, research institutes, institutional and commercial actors as customers, we offer specialist expertise in satellite communications, spacecraft consulting services, rocket and balloon systems, and much more.
As Europe accelerates its investments in space and launch capabilities, SSC Space is playing a central role in shaping the future of orbital launch services from Esrange Space Center in northern Sweden.
We are now looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Orbital Launch & Rocket Test business area, a fast growing and highly collaborative part of the organization working at the forefront of rocket testing, launch infrastructure and future orbital launch capabilities. This is an opportunity to work close to complex technical systems and contribute to projects that are not only technically advanced, but also strategically important for Sweden and Europe’s future in space.
In this role, you will operate in the space between engineering, project management and stakeholders across the business. You will help drive the systems engineering process forward, connect technical disciplines, identify technical risks and ensure system development, implementation, verification & validation and commissioning move in the right direction. The role combines technical depth with communication, collaboration and leadership in everyday work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both solving complex problems and working closely with people.
You will join an environment where things are evolving quickly, decisions matter and no two projects look exactly the same.
Requirements
We believe you have experience working in complex technical environments involving both hardware and software systems, where coordination, communication and collaboration are key to success. Previous experience working as a Systems Engineer is considered a strong advantage, but we also welcome candidates from related engineering backgrounds who have experience driving technical coordination, system level activities and multidisciplinary collaboration across projects.
To succeed in this role, we believe you bring:
- An engineering background within areas such as aerospace, telecom, electronics, software, mechanics or similar technical fields.
- Experience working in technical projects or complex engineering environments.
- An interest in systems engineering, requirements management and technical coordination.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across teams and stakeholders.
- A proactive and curious mindset where you are comfortable asking questions and identifying potential risks or improvements.
- The ability to balance technical details with a broader project perspective.
- Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Experience from systems engineering methodologies, verification & validation and standards such as ISO 15288, ECSS-E-ST-10C or similar is considered a clear advantage. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute with a structured systems perspective and help drive engineering processes forward in complex technical projects.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to grow together with the business area as SSC Space continues expanding its launch and rocket test capabilities.
Responsibilities
As a Systems Engineer within Orbital Launch & Rocket Test, you will drive and support the systems engineering process across projects related to rocket testing and launch infrastructure. You will work closely with Project Managers, engineers and technical leads to ensure systems are developed, integrated and delivered according to project requirements, timelines and technical objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Gathering and analyzing stakeholder and customer requirements.
- Supporting system design, architecture and integration activities.
- Overseeing verification and validation processes.
- Maintaining a high-level overview of technical status, interfaces, dependencies and risks.
- Identifying gaps, risks and blocking points early and communicating them proactively.
- Collaborating with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders across projects.
- Contributing to the development of systems engineering methods, processes and guidelines.
The role requires both technical understanding and strong collaboration skills, as you will operate between project management, engineering teams and stakeholders across the business area.
