During autumn 2026 we will carry out physical testing in a cohort of retired Swedish men and women. The aim is to learn more about sarcopenia, and therefore we will perform advanced testing of the muscles and nervous system. You will be responsible for motor unit number estimation using MScanFit, as well as high-density electromyography to measure the electrical activity of muscles. You will also serve as a backup for the other tests we perform (biodex, use of force plate, maximal exercise test). You will also perform the analyses of the test results.
To be eligible for employment, you must have a bachelor in Sport and Exercise Science or similar, and a master’s degree (or be a master’s student) in a relevant programme. We are looking for a candidate with documented experience of human trials using MScanfit and HD-EMG methodology. Previous experience of testing physical functioning is also required, as Biodex, balance tests on force plate, incremental/maximal exercise tests (e.g., VO2max). It is also required that you master biosignal analysis, common statistical analyses and have skills in using statistical software such as R. Because the work involves interacting with and conducting tests on older individuals, personal suitability is a key requirement. A keen interest in science, the ability to interact effectively with research participants and the team, work productively in a team, and an excellent ability to communicate in English are required. Emphasis will be placed on personal skills, knowledge and abilities, as well as on documented previous experiences.
