We are seeking a skilled research assistant to join our team working on PET neuroimaging methodology at Karolinska Institutet, Solna. You will work at the intersection of advanced statistical methods and translational neuroscience, contributing to ongoing work in quantitative modelling of neuroinflammatory markers using PET data. This is a rare opportunity to apply Bayesian computational methods to real clinical imaging data within one of Europe's leading medical research environments.
The position involves development, application and interpretation of Bayesian hierarchical pharmacokinetic models for the analysis of PET data. Specific responsibilities include:
-
Implementation and development of population compartment models fit using Markov chain Monte Carlo sampling methods
-
Programming in R to analyse and interpret these results
-
Contribution to manuscript preparation and documentation of analysis pipelines
The position is fulltime for 3 months with start after summer vacations.
We are looking for a candidate who is independently motivated, analytically rigorous, and comfortable working with complex models requiring both statistical judgement and programming skill. The ability to communicate technical results clearly to a multidisciplinary audience is important.
Requirements:
-
Master's degree in statistics, mathematics, biostatistics, or a closely related quantitative discipline
-
Demonstrated proficiency in R
-
Working knowledge of Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and Bayesian inference
-
Experience with hierarchical or mixed-effects models
-
Strong written and spoken English
-
Familiarity with version control (Git) and reproducible research workflows
Meritorious:
-
Prior experience with pharmacokinetic or epidemiological compartmental models
-
Familiarity with PET data analysis or other quantitative neuroimaging methods
-
Some knowledge of neurobiology and/or neuroimmune physiology
