Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 46 000 students and 8 500 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.
The lab’s current facilities have enabled innovative research across a broad range of scientific fields, but mobile equipment is increasingly in demand. Researchers want to study people and environments in their natural contexts, such as homes, schools, workplaces, and field settings. To meet this need, the research infrastructure must become more flexible and portable, so that it can be brought to the research subject rather than the research subject coming to the equipment.
As part of a recently awarded RJ grant called GoLab, the Humanities Lab needs to recruit new expertise to support a shift toward more mobile, “on-the-go” data collection, which is increasingly requested by users. The Humanities Lab needs to recruit a research engineer with a background in computer vision and machine learning to support hardware installation and the development of analysis tools for mobile eye tracking. The Humanities Lab is based at the Faculties of Humanities and Theology (HT), and its physical premises, including offices and experimental studios, are located on the HT campus at the Centre for Languages and Literature (SOL) and the LUX building. The lab has around 20–25 employees and is an international environment with multiple visiting researchers each semester. We hold weekly meetings where all staff contribute items to the agenda.
As a Swedish government agency, Lund University offers attractive employment terms, generous vacation benefits, favourable pension schemes. We also have possibilities for flextime and remote-work agreements, which create good conditions for maintaining a healthy work–life balance. About The Joint Faculties of the Humanities and Theology
The Joint Faculties of the Humanities and Theology have seven departments and carries out large and varied work within research and education with the purpose to understand people as cultural and social beings. The faculties have around 700 employees and around 4000 students.
About the Humanities Lab
Lund University Humanities Lab is an interdisciplinary department for research technology and training for researchers, techers and students at the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. The Lab hosts technology, methodological know-how, archiving expertise, and a wide range of research projects. Lab activities are centered around the humanities with research targeting issues of communication, culture, cognition and learning. Many projects are interdisciplinary and conducted in collaboration with the social sciences, medicine, the natural sciences, engineering, and e-Science. We have partners and collaborators locally, nationally and internationally. The Lab is a vibrant and dynamic environment enabling scholars in the humanities to combine traditional and novel methods, and to interact with other disciplines in order to meet the scientific challenges ahead to understand, explain and improve the human condition.
