General Manager – Göteborg, Sweden
COMPANY PROFILE:
Our client is an international Cash and Carry business specialising in the import and distribution of Arabic food products, including spices, dairy, canned goods, vegetable oils, and legumes. With exclusive rights to several brands across Europe and in-house production and repackaging capabilities, the company is recognised for its product quality and strong supplier relationships.
Following a recent acquisition in Sweden, the company is now entering an important growth phase in the Nordics. The local organisation in Göteborg currently consists of a smaller, close-knit team and is supported by international leadership. The aim is now to strengthen the local presence by bringing in a General Manager who can lead daily operations, build structure, and further develop the business in Sweden.
REGION:
The role is based in Göteborg, Sweden, with responsibility for the Swedish market and a broader strategic role across the Nordic region. This is a full-time, on-site leadership position.
TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operational and commercial performance of the Swedish entity. You will play a key role in establishing strong local leadership, creating structure, and building a scalable organisation aligned with the company’s international ambitions.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the day-to-day operations of the business in Sweden, ensuring efficiency, structure, and clear processes
Driving commercial growth by strengthening existing customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities
Acting as the local face of the company, building strong connections with customers, partners, and key stakeholders in the Swedish market
Developing and implementing strategies to support expansion in Sweden and across the Nordics
Leading and supporting the local team, creating clarity, direction, and a strong performance culture
You will work closely with international stakeholders, ensuring alignment between local operations and the broader company strategy, while continuously improving ways of working and supporting long-term growth.
PROFILE:
We are looking for a commercially strong and hands-on leader who combines strategic thinking with operational execution. You have a good understanding of the Swedish market and are motivated by building structure, driving growth, and developing organizations.
To succeed in this role, you bring:
Proven experience in a leadership or general management role, ideally within FMCG
Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to grow business and develop long-term customer relationships
Fluency in Swedish, Arabic, and English
Solid understanding of the Swedish market, including customers and business culture
In addition, you are someone who:
Has experience in operational management and implementing structure within a growing organisation
Thrives in an entrepreneurial and international environment
Is proactive, decisive, and comfortable taking ownership
Has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, motivate, and build trust across teams and stakeholders
Experience with Arabic food products is considered a strong advantage.
SALARY / RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
The salary range for this position is between SEK 50,000 and 80,000 gross per month, depending on experience and the value you bring to the organisation. Standard Swedish benefits apply.
