Ready to drive controlled, scalable, and compliant AI adoption across Tax & Legal?
We are looking for an experienced AI Lead (Manager level) to join our Tax & Legal Technology team in Sweden. In this role, you will play a key part in driving the controlled, scalable, and compliant adoption of AI across our Tax & Legal practice.
You will act as a central enabler of AI transformation - ensuring alignment with Global, EMA, and Nordic strategies while translating them into practical, high-impact execution in Sweden. Working at the intersection of business, technology, and governance, you will help our teams unlock the value of AI in a way that is structured, safe, and sustainable.
You will work closely with business stakeholders, risk and compliance functions, and technical experts, including a dedicated AI Solutions Engineer, to combine strategic direction with practical enablement and embed AI into day-to-day operations.
About the role
As an AI Lead, you will be responsible for orchestrating and enabling AI adoption across Tax & Legal, with a strong focus on governance, coordination, and business impact. You will own the local AI governance setup and ensure that all AI initiatives are aligned, compliant, and scalable across service lines.
A core part of your role will be to translate global and regional AI strategies into local execution, establishing clear structures and ways of working that enable teams to innovate confidently within defined guardrails. You will implement and manage governance frameworks tailored to the Swedish context, ensuring that AI solutions are developed responsibly, securely, and in line with firm policies.
You will lead the implementation of the Generative AI Persona Governance Framework, including oversight of AI “personas,” prompts, and agents throughout their lifecycle - from development and review to certification and reuse. This includes building transparency, documentation, and control into all AI-driven solutions.
In parallel, you will coordinate and scale AI use cases across the business, working closely with service lines to identify high-value opportunities and ensure solutions are reusable, consistent, and aligned. You will also lead an AI Champion network, strengthening collaboration across Sweden and the Nordics and accelerating knowledge-sharing and adoption.
While the role is primarily focused on governance and orchestration, you will also contribute hands-on where needed — supporting the development of AI use cases, advising on prompt engineering, and enabling teams to practically apply tools such as Digital Gateway GenAI, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and Copilot agents in their daily work.
Collaborating closely with stakeholders across Tax & Legal, Quality & Risk Management, and Legal functions, you will ensure that AI adoption is not only innovative, but also trusted, compliant, and fully embedded into how we deliver value.
What you will do
AI Strategy & Governance: Translate and localize KPMG’s global AI strategy – align KPMG’s Global, EMA and Nordic AI initiatives with the needs of Tax & Legal Sweden, ensuring controlled and compliant adoption of tools like Digital Gateway GenAI and Microsoft 365 Copilot. Embed governance and risk management by implementing global frameworks in our local operations, upholding key principles like human-in-the-loop oversight, documentation, and continuous certification.
Governance Framework Implementation: Establish robust governance processes for AI use cases, prompts, agents, and AI-based assistants across Tax & Legal. You will set up and lead the local Generative AI Governance Framework, including structured certification and review processes for new AI solutions, and maintain a record of AI “personas,” prompts, and agents to track their lifecycle and compliance status. You will provide technical oversight on all AI development, reviewing for design standards and safety, and acting as a co-owner for approved solutions.
Network Leadership & Alignment: Build and lead the AI Champion network within Tax & Legal - coordinate power users across service lines and the Nordics to share knowledge, best practices, and drive consistency in AI tool usage. Champion alignment with Nordic, EMA, and Global AI programs, ensuring Sweden’s AI efforts are integrated and that we reuse successful use cases from across the network to avoid reinventing the wheel.
Use Case Coordination & Scaling: Orchestrate AI use case development by working with different business units to identify, prioritize, and scale high-impact AI solutions. Guide teams in applying AI to real Tax & Legal problems, focusing on maximizing business value while ensuring solutions meet governance and compliance requirements. Facilitate reusability and cross-pollination of use cases across the firm, standardizing approaches where beneficial and preventing fragmented or duplicative efforts.
Hands-on Enablement & Support: While your primary focus is strategic leadership, governance, and adoption, you will also work hands-on selectively to enable the practical implementation of AI. Provide hands-on support in developing AI “personas,” prompts, and Copilot agents that can solve business challenges. This might involve co-creating prototypes or proof-of-concepts with teams, advising on prompt engineering techniques, or helping configure Copilot Studio to meet specific needs - all with an emphasis on safe and effective use of AI tools in practice.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Compliance: Serve as the bridge between technology and risk/compliance - work closely with Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM) and Legal experts to ensure our AI solutions and processes meet all required policies, from data privacy to professional standards. You will coordinate stakeholder reviews for higher-risk use cases (involving sensitive data or client use) and ensure that human-in-the-loop validations and documentation are built into every AI solution.
Insights & Reporting: Track and report on AI adoption, usage, and outcomes - provide leadership with regular updates on how generative AI tools are being used in Tax & Legal and the value they are delivering. Develop metrics and dashboards to monitor AI usage and detect risks or opportunities. Use these insights to continuously improve our AI strategy and drive accountability for results.

Skills & Requirements
Solid experience in digital/technology leadership – e.g., 5+ years in roles like AI Lead, Data/AI Manager, or a similar role in a large multinational enterprise or consulting environment. You have experience guiding teams through technology change (preferably in Tax, Legal, or professional services domain), and you understand how to deliver value from emerging tech in a complex organization.
Strategic vision with strong execution focus – able to define an AI adoption roadmap and governance model while also ensuring on-the-ground execution. You can balance long-term strategy with quick wins, and you have a results-driven mindset to turn high-level plans into tangible outcomes.
Leadership and collaboration skills – proven ability to lead through influence, coordinate across departmental or regional boundaries, and inspire others. You are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, as well as coaching and guiding teams of technical and non-technical colleagues. Experience building a community of practice or champion network is a plus.
Generative AI expertise - hands-on familiarity with modern AI tools and platforms, especially Generative AI and prompt engineering, Microsoft 365 Copilot (including Copilot Studio), and AI agent-building frameworks. You understand how to craft effective prompts, design AI “personas,” and build solutions or automations using these platforms. You need not be a hardcore coder, but you should have built or configured AI-driven solutions yourself and know how to guide others in doing so.
Governance and compliance mindset - strong understanding of AI governance frameworks and ethical considerations (e.g., responsible AI principles, risk assessment, data privacy). Ideally, experience implementing technology governance or compliance processes, for example, establishing review boards, developing guidelines, or maintaining system inventories. You are familiar with working alongside risk management and legal teams to address regulatory or policy requirements.
Analytical and problem-solving skills - comfortable diving into complex problems and finding creative solutions. You can assess AI use cases, identify potential risks or improvements, and suggest ways to optimize outcomes (e.g., refining a prompt for better results, or spotting where an AI solution can scale to new areas).
Excellent communication & training ability - skilled at explaining AI concepts to non-specialists, writing clear guidelines or documentation, and delivering training sessions or demos. You are an evangelist for AI (especially GenAI) and can empower others to use new tools effectively while setting realistic expectations.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business, Tax, Law) or equivalent professional experience. Industry certifications in AI, data science, or AI governance/risk are a bonus.
Language skills: Fluency in English is required and a strong proficiency in Swedish is preferred.
Success in the role
We will measure your success by how effectively you accelerate AI adoption while enhancing governance and consistency. Within your first year, you will have established a clear AI program with engaged AI Champions in each service line, implemented a local AI governance framework process (with a robust inventory and certification workflow in place), and supported initial AI use cases that demonstrate measurable business improvements (e.g. faster analysis, improved quality, reduced risk). AI usage in Tax & Legal will be more structured, compliant, and widely embraced, with strong alignment to regional and global initiatives, keeping Sweden at the forefront of AI innovation in our firm. You will be recognized for making AI adoption scalable and safe in our practice, turning new technology into concrete value for our people and clients.
