JOB OVERVIEW:
The Payment Schemes & Relations Specialist will have strong experience monitoring and managing the relationships with payment schemes, keeping up to date with Visa and Mastercard’s regulations to maintain total compliance with them. The scope of this position is to escalate and mitigate potential company risks and safeguard the business against non-compliance risks or operational disruptions.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Payment Scheme Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all communication between the company and Visa/Mastercard representatives
- Monitoring and managing the regulations and releases of Visa/Mastercard, by translating, summarizing and updating payment scheme changes to internal teams or management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Visa/Mastercard, managing direct communications and official inquiries, regarding, and not limited to, product launches and policy updates.
Risk Mitigation:
- Identify and escalate potential operational issues or risks, by ensuring the company is fully compliant with the payment schemes’ regulations and rules, in a timely manner
- Support scheme fraud investigations for acquiring customers.
- Maintain visibility of fines, remediation progress, and compliance status through dashboards and regular reporting.
- Submit risk reports to Visa/Mastercard when necessary.
- Provide compliance guidance and training to merchants and partners.
- Support Sales and Customer Success with scheme-related queries, high-risk merchant onboarding, RFP responses, and customer communications.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- 3-5 years hands-on experience in a relevant role managing card schemes compliance and payment schemes relationships (Visa & Mastercard), within the Payments/EMI/FinTech space is a must
- Strong knowledge of Visa/Mastercard compliance frameworks, mandate cycles, and non‑compliance processes.
- Proven ability to manage cross‑functional compliance deliverables.
- Exceptional ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal and regulatory documents.
- Excellent communication and investigation skills with the ability to simplify and communicate complex regulatory content to the relevant teams
- Proactive persona with the ability to work in fast-paced environments.
- Experience with Mastercard DIMP, Visa mandate processes, and fine dispute procedures.
- Keeping up with Visa and Mastercard releases, updates and regulations.
- Fluency in English.
