Location: Malmö, Amsterdam or Copenhagen
Workload: Full-time
Experience: 10+ years
Travel: Primarily to Malmö – approximately 1–2 meetings per month during the first six months, reducing to quarterly thereafter, plus potentially 1–2 additional trips per year.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM) Programme Lead to help build and establish an internal MMM capability within a large, complex, multi-market organisation.
Marketing Mix Modelling is already operating at scale across 30+ markets through an established media agency programme. The organisation is now transitioning from a fully outsourced approach to a hybrid operating model, where an internal MMM team will take ownership of strategy, governance, business interpretation and value creation, while an external agency continues to perform much of the practical modelling work.
This is not a programme starting from zero. The existing MMM programme is live; however, the internal team, governance structure and ways of working are being built from the ground up.
You will own the business vision, value case and overall delivery plan for MMM, working closely with Insights & Analytics, Marketing, Finance, country teams, Procurement, data teams and external modelling partners.
This is not a people-management position. Success will depend on your ability to lead through expertise, influence and stakeholder alignment.
Key ResponsibilitiesMMM Strategy & Business Value
- Define and champion the business vision for Marketing Mix Modelling.
- Establish a clear value narrative connecting MMM insights with marketing investment and financial decision-making.
- Ensure Marketing and Finance have a shared understanding of how MMM creates measurable business value.
- Translate model outputs into meaningful recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Programme Leadership
- Own the end-to-end delivery plan for the MMM transition and internal capability build.
- Manage milestones, dependencies, priorities, risks and issues.
- Establish effective programme governance and steering cadences.
- Coordinate activities across internal teams and external partners.
Data Requirements
- Define the data required for MMM to answer key business and marketing questions.
- Initiate sourcing activities with Procurement and relevant internal data owners.
- Work with the data team to ensure requirements are understood ahead of ingestion, QA, automation and vendor use.
- Ensure data requirements remain aligned with the programme's analytical and commercial objectives.
Stakeholder Management
Act as a key point of contact across:
- Global and Country Marketing teams
- Finance / Business Steering
- Insights & Analytics
- Procurement
- Data and Engineering teams
- External modelling and analytics partners
Build consensus across these groups and ensure decisions are made against a common MMM strategy.
Learning Agenda & Marketing Effectiveness
- Own the senior-management MMM learning agenda.
- Oversee the learning agenda across country and global marketing teams.
- Help stakeholders interpret econometric outputs and translate findings into media investment decisions.
- Ensure insights around channel performance, diminishing returns and cross-channel effects are actionable.
Governance, Risk & Reporting
- Lead programme reporting and steering activities together with the Vendor & Operations Manager.
- Identify delivery risks early and drive resolution.
- Escalate significant issues with clear recommendations and proposed actions.
- Ensure programme decisions, dependencies and outcomes are transparent.
Team Build & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Support recruitment and onboarding of the remaining internal MMM team.
- Coordinate across the Vendor & Operations Manager, Econometrician/Data Scientist function, Media Effectiveness Experts and Data teams.
- Help establish ways of working that allow these functions to operate as one integrated MMM capability.
What You Will Not Own
This role does not own:
- Direct people management
- Technical model development
- Data pipeline engineering or technical QA
- Day-to-day vendor SLA management
- Final budget or vendor contract sign-off
You will, however, need sufficient technical MMM expertise to challenge methodology, assumptions and results and hold external modelling partners accountable for analytical quality.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first 6–12 months:
- A clear and aligned MMM business vision is established.
- The internal MMM team is staffed, onboarded and operating against a structured delivery plan.
- The first 5–10 countries are operating using the updated model.
- Marketing and Finance share a consistent understanding of the value delivered by MMM.
- Governance and steering meetings operate predictably and effectively.
- Programme risks are identified early enough for corrective action rather than being reported retrospectively.
Must-Have Experience & Skills
- 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong technical grounding in Marketing Mix Modelling (MMM) and econometrics.
- Ability to interrogate modelling methodologies, assumptions and results and challenge external modelling partners on technical quality.
- Strong understanding of media and marketing effectiveness, including channel economics, diminishing returns and cross-channel interaction.
- Ability to translate econometric and MMM outputs into practical media investment decisions.
- Significant programme or project management experience within a complex, matrixed organisation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and build consensus with senior stakeholders without formal authority.
- Strong financial and budget literacy, including spend tracking, forecasting and business-case development.
- Fluent English.
Strongly Desirable
- Previous experience establishing a new MMM, analytics, marketing effectiveness or similar capability from limited existing structure.
- Experience within retail, FMCG or another complex multi-market/global organisation.
- Experience conducting RFI/RFP processes.
- Experience working with or managing external econometrics, modelling, media or analytics vendors.
- Experience operating across multiple countries and coordinating global and local stakeholders.
Why Join?
This is an opportunity to help establish a major internal Marketing Mix Modelling capability operating across 30+ markets.
Rather than simply inheriting an established analytics function or working purely on technical model development, you will help define how MMM is governed, interpreted and embedded into business decision-making.
The role sits directly at the intersection of Marketing, Finance, Data and Analytics, providing the opportunity to influence how marketing effectiveness is measured and how major investment decisions are made across a global organisation.
