1 Teaching assistant
The Department of Peace and Conflict Research was established in 1971 to conduct peace research and offer courses in peace and conflict studies. Currently approx. 80 persons are employed at the Department and at present some 300-400 students are enrolled every academic year. Courses offered include undergraduate and post-graduate courses, as well as a Ph. D. programme. For more information, visit www.pcr.uu.se.
Uppsala Conflict Data Program
Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) at Uppsala University is the world's leading provider of data on organized violence, and the program is a unique source of information about conflicts worldwide and has been at the Department since the 1980s.
The Department is looking for a teaching assistant, working 10 % for 4.5 months, starting in September.
Duties
The focus will be on collecting and coding information on organized violence in Sudan and Myanmar. The focus will be on going through the sources Sudan Tribune and Ayin Network for Sudan, and AAPP for Myanmar.
Requirements
For employment as a teaching assistant, it is a requirement that you are admitted as a student at undergraduate or advanced level. The following are also requirements;

Bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies

Very good knowledge of UCDP and its definitions

Documented experience of working with conflict data (coding/data management)

Documented ability to work independently
-
Good knowledge of the conflicts in Sudan

Good knowledge of the conflicts in Myanmar
-
Good cooperation skills.
Additional qualifications
Earlier experience of collecting conflict data relating to Sudan and Myanmar.

The employment is a: temporary position according to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5 § 12. Scope of employment: 10 %. Starting date: 14 September, or as agreed. Placement: Uppsala.
