We are looking for a dynamic and forward‑thinking Government Relations Lead to drive and support Hitachi Energy’s public affairs and policy advocacy efforts in Sweden. In this role, you will shape our engagement with key government stakeholders, industry associations, and strategic partners—positioning Hitachi Energy at the forefront of Sweden’s energy transition.
You will operate at the intersection of energy, technology, and industry , ensuring that our insights and expertise contribute meaningfully to national policy discussions. This is a unique opportunity to influence the future of Sweden’s energy landscape while supporting the growth of a global technology leader.
You will report to the Head of Communications and Government Relations for the Nordics and work closely with Swedish leadership, local business units, and colleagues across Europe and globally.
- Lead and execute Hitachi Energy’s government relations strategy in Sweden, ensuring alignment with business priorities and policy developments
- Represent Hitachi Energy toward government bodies, ministries, agencies, parliamentary committees, as well as regional and local authorities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, political advisors, industry associations, and key stakeholders across the Swedish energy ecosystem
- Monitor and analyze policy and regulatory developments, providing actionable insights and advising leadership on risks, opportunities, and positioning
- Drive advocacy initiatives related to grid expansion, electrification, industrial competitiveness, transport, trade, and export policies
- Support and contribute to EU-level advocacy efforts in collaboration with Swedish stakeholders and international teams
- Prepare executive briefings, policy papers, messaging, and speaking materials for senior leadership
- Strengthen Hitachi Energy’s thought leadership by ensuring active participation in key forums, consultations, conferences, and working groups
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Communications, Sustainability, Business Units, and Corporate Functions to ensure a consistent and impactful public affairs approach
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Affairs, Law, Energy Policy, Economics , or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within government, public affairs, regulatory affairs, or a related field—preferably in energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, or technology sectors .
- Strong understanding of the Swedish policymaking landscape , with experience engaging with ministries, authorities, parliament, and industry bodies.
- Solid knowledge of Sweden’s energy system, electrification agenda, grid challenges , and broader industrial competitiveness topics.
- Experience or exposure to EU legislative processes, trade policy, export promotion, or export finance is a strong advantage.
- Proven skills in policy analysis, stakeholder management, and strategic advocacy .
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical and regulatory topics into clear and compelling messages.
- Experience working in international and matrix organizations is considered an advantage.
- Fluent in Swedish and English , both written and spoken.
