We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral researcher to join our research team focusing on nuclear organization and chromatin architecture during early embryonic development in laboratory of Prof. Jan Ellenberg at SciLifelab.
Our research environment combines cutting-edge live-cell imaging, genome engineering, and multi-omics approaches to uncover fundamental mechanisms governing cell fate transitions. Ellenberg lab provides world-class resources and a collaborative network at SciLifeLab, one of Europe’s leading centers for life science research. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive independent research at the forefront of developmental and quantitative cell biology.
You will lead experimental research aimed at understanding how chromatin architecture and nuclear organization is changing in highly dynamic early embryonic development. The project will focus on dissecting transcriptome and chromatin reorganization, with a particular emphasis on quantitative single-molecule live-imaging approaches.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctoral researcher, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage. If there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
Required qualifications:
-
PhD in Biology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, or a related field
-
Strong background in RNA biology, gene expression regulation, and chromatin-associated processes, with a solid publication record in peer-reviewed journals
-
Proven expertise in molecular biology and biochemical techniques such as RNA/DNA work, in vitro transcription assays, qPCR, protein purification, and cell culture
-
Advanced experience in microscopy, including single-molecule imaging, live-cell imaging, or confocal microscopy, combined with strong quantitative image analysis skills (e.g., Python, MATLAB, FIJI, or related tools)
-
Demonstrated ability to independently design, lead, and complete research projects
-
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in computational data analysis
-
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in an international, collaborative research environment
-
Strong written and oral communication skills in English
Meritorious for the position:
-
Experience working at the interface of RNA biology and chromatin/nuclear organization.
-
Experience in developing or applying single-molecule high-resolution imaging approaches to study dynamic molecular processes
-
Experience with advanced quantitative or biophysical methods to study macromolecular complexes
