We are building the next generation of software for medical imaging and workflows. This role is for an (AI‑native) software engineer who thrives on learning, adapts quickly to new challenges, and cares deeply about building reliable, secure, and usable products that improve patient care. You will design and deliver production-grade software while leveraging modern AI tools and techniques to accelerate development and enhance product capabilities.
What you will do
Design, build, and maintain high-quality services and applications used in medical imaging workflows
Apply AI tools (e.g., code assistants, code generators) responsibly to increase velocity without compromising quality, security, or cost
Collaborate with product, UX, clinicians and end-users, to translate clinical needs into robust solutions
Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, testing, observability, documentation, and deployment
Implement and uphold strong engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews, performance profiling etc
Work with medical imaging standards and infrastructure (e.g., DICOM, HL7/FHIR, PACS/VNA, cloud services)
Continuously learn: evaluate new tools, frameworks, and AI capabilities; share knowledge across the team
Skills & Requirements
At Sectra, we hire for attitude and ability – train for skill. This means who you are is more important than your previous experiences. There are a few core abilities that are central for any role. We always look for your willingness and ability to learn and take on new tasks fast, utilize previous experiences and quickly grasp new information.
What you bring
Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures/algorithms, concurrency, networking, API design, software architecture
Proficiency in one or more languages used for high-performance and backend development (e.g., C#, Typescript, C++) and modern tooling
Experience with cloud services, containers, and CI/CD (AWS/Azure/GCP, Docker, Kubernetes or serverless)
Quality mindset: automated testing, observability (metrics/logs/traces), and performance awareness
Security and privacy literacy (secure coding, handling sensitive data)
Curiosity and learning agility; ability to adapt to new domains, tools, and AI workflows
Required: Humour and strong academic record from university and upper secondary school; please include transcripts or grade summaries in your application
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, product-oriented approach
Nice to have
Experience in medical imaging or healthcare IT (DICOM, HL7/FHIR, imaging pipelines, PACS/VNA)
Frontend experience for imaging/clinical apps (e.g., TypeScript/React) or cross-platform UI
Infrastructure and reliability skills (SRE practices, performance engineering, cost/FinOps)
Pursue passions outside of work, whether in sports, music, the arts, or unique hobbies
Why this role is more than a job
Your work will impact clinicians and patients. We believe great engineering, used responsibly, can meaningfully improve diagnostics and care. If you’re motivated by purpose as much as by technology, you’ll feel at home here.
What we offer
Mission-driven work in a domain that matters
Time and budget for learning and professional development
An engineering culture that values quality, security, and impact
Collaborative, cross-functional teams with mentorship and growth paths
